  • Impact should matter, more on lex talionis

There should be a baseline punishment for committing the crime itself, and potentially additional punishment for damages (e.g. pain and suffering) to the person due to the criminal act.

Perhaps there is no potential for a civil suit in the UK, if that is the case, that is another sad commentary on the British "justice" system.

I do decry cases in which a woman or girl is wronged. You should also note that there are many cases where men or boys are wronged, and I hope you apply the same standard to those cases, as well.

On that note, the California courts finally acknowledged domestic violence is a significant problem for male victims, as well as for women, and it is unconstitutional to deny services for male victims of domestic violence.

Victory! CA Appellate Court Says Excluding Men from Domestic Violence Programs is Unconstitutional

California attorney Marc Angelucci scored a tremendous victory today as the Third District Court of Appeal in Sacramento ruled that California’s exclusion of men from domestic violence violates men’s constitutional equal protection rights.

The taxpayer lawsuit -- Woods. v. Shewry -- was initially filed in 2005 by four male victims of domestic violence.

In 2007, Sacramento Superior Court Judge Lloyd Connelly dismissed the case, ruling that men are not entitled to equal protection regarding domestic violence because they statistically are not similarly situated with women.

Today the Court of Appeal reversed that decision and held:

The gender classifications in Health and Safety Code section 124250 and Penal Code section 13823.15, that provide state funding of domestic violence programs that offer services only to women and their children, but not to men, violate equal protection.

I am glad to see the California Appellate Court embrace the true meaning of equality with their recent ruling.

Just wait for the lawsuit when a pregnant cop miscarries due to injury from having to stay on the job while pregnant. It's gonna happen.

it was already clear that feminists hate our country.

Don't worry though - the government trough is ready for the ever-ravenous feminist snout. More slop is coming...

Remember that nice forest preserve you visited as a kid? It's now a subdivision and a shopping mall.

Hunters provide a reason to maintain natural habitats. Ducks Unlimited and other conservation groups keep wetlands wild and unaltered.

If the land's going to be used, better it be used by hunters and fishermen than real estate developers and megastores.

I guess since she's black, overwhelmingly white liberal Salon writers can talk about her any way they want. The fact that she will soon be living in the White House is irrelevant.

"The white liberal differs from the white conservative only in one way: the liberal is more deceitful than the conservative. The liberal is more hypocritical than the conservative. Both want power, but the white liberal is the one who has perfected the art of posing as the Negro's friend and benefactor; and by winning the friendship, allegiance, and support of the Negro, the white liberal is able to use the Negro as a pawn or tool in this political "football game" that is constantly raging between the white liberals and white conservatives.

Politically the American Negro is nothing but a football and the white liberals control this mentally dead ball through tricks of tokenism: false promises of integration and civil rights. In this profitable game of deceiving and exploiting the political politician of the American Negro, those white liberals have the willing cooperation of the Negro civil rights leaders. These "leaders" sell out our people for just a few crumbs of token recognition and token gains. These "leaders" are satisfied with token victories and token progress because they themselves are nothing but token leaders. "

The highest per capita number of CCD surveillance cameras in the world, rigid laws governing behaviors, actual or perceived to be anti-female, no such punishments for women committing crimes against men. This is a logical next step.
