Two things
[Read the article: And baby daddy makes three ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let's hope that her son has enough common sense such that he doesn't come home one day and crow about the girl he knocked up in a bar after a one night stand. God forbid he follow his mother's reckless and irresponsible example.
And since he's a male, with no reproductive rights, he is likely taking far more risks than a woman in a similar situation.
And make a choice, please. Men have fought for decades for joint custody rights for their children - fatherlessness causes untold suffering to millions of kids every year in the US.
If you're going to berate men for wanting to spend time with their children (as has been done again and again on BS), and then talk about "providing" a man an "out" to avoid parenting his child, that's called lying, and there's enough of that going on in the "single mothers by choice" groups every day.
Let's hope one day Mary's son gets married and has a stable, loving relationship with his wife and kids. That would certainly be better than his knocking up a girl in a bar after a one night stand and only being able to parent at her sole discretion - that's the reality of the situation from the male vantage point.

@Treeple
[Read the article: And baby daddy makes three ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I most certainly was talking to Mary Pols. But as she's a wealthy, privileged white woman, Treeple, I guess you have a problem with anyone questioning her selfish motives and irresponsible actions.

@margaretleo
[Read the article: The mother-daughter wars]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why don't you shut up? In the grand scheme of things, being a good parent to another human being is far more important than some pseudointellectual scribblings.
The world has enough writers, we could use a lot more good parents.
Good for you, Rebecca!

@Robot-3
[Read the article: Old McDonald had a pharm]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Absolutely right. I always wondered why vegans took any medications whatsoever, as they have all been tested on animals.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Female hormones do not influence sexual desire.
High desire = high testosterone, in a woman or a man.

You must know everything about her.

Marriage
[Read the article: "I now pronounce you wife and wife" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank God lesbians are getting married. At least they won't have any of those lazy, rapist husbands.
-
Fiction
[Read the article: Old McDonald had a pharm]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oryx and Crake is completely fictitious. Fiction. Not reality.

Ridiculous

Hmmm
[Read the article: "I now pronounce you wife and wife" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]California is running out of water, our deficit is north of $10 billion, schools consistently rank near the bottom....oh, yes, and presumptive joint custody legislation has yet to be successfully passed in the state.
Gas prices are about the highest in the nation, as are foreclosure rates, and businesses are leaving the state in droves because of high taxes and burdensome regulation.
That's okay, because the ~2% of the population that is gay needs to get married. That's a priority for our legislature.
-
Wow
[Read the article: And baby daddy makes three ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've seen her a couple of times, too, in Alameda and Berkeley.
Compared to the poor black single mothers that feminists constantly discriminate against, she's wealthy.

[Read the article: Food for thought of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Affluence is correlated with lower birth rates as well.
Correlation does not equal causality.
This is not science.

Hilarious
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and sad - seeing middle aged woman putting out the misandric fantasy that women are more freethinking and emotionally intelligent than men. Now that HRC has lost, due largely to her clumsy, poorly executed campaign and her "don't hit me because I'm a girl" sexism that she generated on her own, it seems like middle aged white harridans from all over the country (Hi Joan!) are coming out of the woodwork flogging their "sexism screed".
Hillary lost. She was a lousy candidate. People shouldn't get elected just because they possess a vagina. Get. Over. It.

[Read the article: Food for thought of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Women's "reproductive decision making" is a tertiary effect of increased education that itself arises from increased affluence which is "highly correlated" with population reduction.
But correlation still does not imply causality.
For instance, the vast majority of basketball centers are black, but that doesn't mean being black causes one to be a basketball center.

That's what Nerdgirls are all about!
Whether decomposing a Hamiltonian into eigenvectors, or developing ribosome scanning technology - they're hip. girlish and self-aware!
Go away, mustachioed, hunchbacked, old feminist crones - no need for you here! Underrrrrrrrr control!!!!
OMG, ROTFLMAO!

Well
[Read the article: Men, talk among yourselves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Happy two days before Father's Day. Feminists are the worst kind of sexists.
Let the bigotry pour from BS in celebration...

When they're not raping teenage boys (and hey - they asked for it, right!!?) http://tinyurl.com/5j8y6d or lying about rape (see Duke lacrosse case, ladies, among millions of others), they're only really good for one thing.
Keep your traps shut the next time you're at a party, ladies, and look hot. That's a lot more entertaining than anything you might think about saying.
Ahh, equality....

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The last person he needs for VP is a Washington insider who voted for the war.
Wake up - just because she's a woman, that doesn't mean she needs to be in the White House.
Oh, and if you really want to write about irrational haters, write about the bitter HRC wingnuts who are now planning to vote for McCain.
