Wow - joint custody legislation: fought hard against by NOW. Oh, by the way, Mary Winkler, who murdered her husband in cold blood has visitation with her kids (many men do not).
Office of Men's Health? Well, I guess the feministas at Broadsheet here on Salon would prefer to blame men for their short lifespans, see http://tinyurl.com/3gk77f (and, you're off base, as clinical trials have been equal opportunity for decades).
Evenhanded domestic violence legislation? C'mon, do you live in a cave? Here's an example:
http://www.glennsacks.com/schwarzenegger_should_veto.htm. AB 2051 passed here in California, by the way. In this state only women are defined as victims of domestic violence.
A new bill before Congress is proposing offering women free attorneys in the event domestic violence charges are alleged. The divorce child custody game is over.
The Violence Against Women Act of 2005 now requires federal officials to take DNA samples of anyone apprehended by them. The DNA samples will be used in a nationwide DNA database, and there is no way to remove your sample from the system if charges are dropped (http://epic.org/privacy/dv/vawa.html).
Wonderful.
Evenhanded punishment for child molestation? Women are basically given a wink and a nod when they molest young boys or girls (example: http://tinyurl.com/4r2yoa). Do you really think Andrea Yates would have gotten off mildly if she were a man? Wake up!
There's a reason more and more men are foregoing marriage in the US.
Feminists have won the battle of the sexes long ago, when it comes to child custody, child support, domestic violence issues, etc. Quite a few people's careers depend on maintaining the myth that only women are good parents in a divorce, and that domestic violence and child abuse are only committed by men.
If you are relatively young, Tara, I feel for you. You are going to have to deal with the mess older feminists have made of civil society in the US. Slightly over 40% of all childbirths in the US are out of wedlock, and that proportion will only rise going forward. Divorce and single parenthood are now normalized in the US.
The old paradigm of courtship, marriage and children no longer applies here.
There is a flip side to what you describe. In a country where no-fault divorce is pretty much the norm and where Constitutional protections are absent in civil court which adjudicates child support, domestic violence and maintenance payment issues, men have no reason to get married, regardless of how "frustrated" they are.
You want a return to a marriage culture? Bring back incentives to get married and reduce the disincentives men face during divorce, which is at about 50% nowadays. And divorce is overwhelmingly initiated by women, not men.
Presumptive joint custody laws, evenhanded domestic violence statutes and a rational system for determining child support would help. So would making women accountable for paternity fraud.
Until those things happen, well, the genie's out of the bottle, and not much will change.
Since you are a guy, and hence, stupid, your argument that women are the smarter sex is incorrect.
Dumbass.
Oh, hi Cauckistan Bob!
Yet another golddigging whore a la Heather Mills.
Don't worry, honey, the family law system will provide for you, after all you have a vagina, not like that nasty man, your brother.
Like it or not, gay marriage has paved the way for polyamourous relationships. Many feminists look forward to the end of the traditional family structure.
See http://www.beyondmarriage.org/full_statement.html for more information.
Coupled with increasing penalties for fathers who get divorced, it will be hard for anything resembling a family where children are solely by their biological parents, even though numerous studies indicate the importance of fathers in child development and the multiple benefits children raised by their natural parents receive.
Marriage is now about legal benefits and individual adult female rights more than anything else. It's a Brave New World.
It's wonderful that women in the Middle East are embracing the vaginamania of their Western feminists counterparts.
Vagina.
Penis, even!
An empowering reclamation of hitherto taboo words.
Vagina! Penis!
We can only hope the Penis Monologues soon reach the shores of the Levant with the same acclaim.
Yes, yes, it's horrible sexism at work. Why, people forget when Ivy-League educated white women were lynched in the past, or had to drink from separate drinking fountains. The slavery and genocidal abuse they endured. Oh, never mind.
Wake up, Joan. Hillary is another Washington insider whose own ambitions are clearly more important to her than party unity or a Democratic victory.
Let's review:
Sits on the board of Walmart.
Voted for the war in Iraq, and when asked if she would vote differently today, knowing what is known about the situation, she refuses to admit she made a mistake.
She's here because her husband was President.
Hired a bungling consultant to "manage her campaign", a consultant whose missteps have been delineated by the press time and again.
Plays the feminist victim entitlement card again and again, despite her $109 million dollar income.
Do we need a privileged white feminist opportunist to run our country? No, we do not.
Ms. Christian's rant about Obama? That's racist, pure and simple.
That's the face of middle aged white feminism today. Feminists' take-no-prisoners entitlement mentality writ large.
If you can't see that, fess up now, Joan, and at least be an honest bigot when you write this drivel.
Bile-spewing angry Clinton supporters are already setting up to vote for McCain:

Why can't women bow out gracefully once they've lost? Or is this just Hillary Clinton and her supporters showing their true colors?
