  • Hmmm

[Read the article: The Daringly Irrelevant Book for Girls?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I assume my kids (both girls) have enough brains to read whatever they want.

They go tidepooling, snorkel with baby sharks, boogieboard, hike, fish, and they like to shop for girly clothes.

They are independent thinkers. Different from many mainstream feminists and old-fashioned sexists of a different stripe.

    How about calling it "penis"?

And how typical. We always hear about "The Patriarchy", with the hordes of men in Congress and the White House, and how this is clear evidence of the oppression of women by men.

    So much for feminist "logic".

Unlike you, Holly, I don't view everything through a gender filter.

If I did, I'd be upset about the $7 billion in support payments that go to women in the US, or the paucity of women fighting for joint custody, or the complete silence that feminists seem to have in response to the many women who molest boys and girls.

If I did want to feel like you, I'd just spend the day in family court, where the lack of due process removes millions of children from their fathers' homes every year, and pretends that that's okay. Then I'd be a feminist.

No, actually I fared very well, custody-wise. But after going through the system, I realized how hypocritical a lot of the feminist BS I had believed really is.

There is a big difference between seeking equality and seeking entitlements and benefits, often at the expense of other people.

If this is supposed to be an ideological echo chamber, so be it, but I like to think the crapola BS blogroll is a bit beneath folks trying to open their minds.

  • Not about women

[Read the article: "30 Reasons Girls Should Call It a Night"]

I think this is more about the English than about women per se.

  • ????

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's a big decision. Why is a waiting period such a bad thing?

There are many women who have no regrets about having had an abortion. There are many women who have had regrets. If a woman is young and stressed, for instance, a waiting period seems like a sensible thing.

  • Sometimes difficult decisions take time

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Do they actually think that the woman who COMES to the clinic for an abortion hasn't...oh...thought about it a bit?

    Apparently, sometimes not.

    From the NYT article:

Dr. Wicklund describes her horror when she aborted the pregnancy of a woman who had been raped, only to discover, by examining the removed tissue, that the pregnancy was further along than she or the woman had thought — and that she had destroyed an embryo the woman and her husband had conceived together. And she describes the way she watches and listens as the women she treats tell why they want to end their pregnancies. If she detects uncertainty or thinks they may be responding to the wishes of anyone other than themselves, she says, she tells them to think it over a bit longer.

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Who is "Dr. Wicklund" to assume she knows what these women are thinking?

    How paternalistic of her!

Would other doctors have the same opinion of who might need more time to think over this highly invasive medical procedure?

She should be ashamed of herself.

  • Wow

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I guess the doctor quoted in the article must not know what she is talking about.....even though she's a woman...who's had an abortion....who performs abortions....

Oh, and last time I checked, tubal ligation has a 30-day waiting period as well. The nerve of Teh Patryarchy!

[Read the article: Is the way we raise our food giving us MRSA?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"In the Netherlands, farm-animal MRSA has been found in 20% of pork, 21% of chicken and 3% of beef on sale to the public. "

In one 2005 Dutch study cited on the CDC website, a study of a group of 26 pig farmers to determine the methicillin-resistant

Staphylococcus aureus prevalence rate found it was

    >760 times greater than the rate of patients admitted to

    Dutch hospitals.

  • Yes

[Read the article: How are the U.S. and Kazakhstan alike?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Joint custody is still a distant dream for many states in the U.S.

And rigid, sexist ideology in the domestic violence industry still prevents men from getting access to services and resources.

And molestation of boys is something that rarely results in prison time for female pedophiles.

Clearly gender equality has a long way to go in America.

  • Dashed hopes

I was looking forward to meeting Ms. Banks' vulva. The puppet was a big disappointment.

The biological ignorance displayed on the show was no surprise. After all, 20% of Americans believed the sun revolves around the earth.

    Catherine MacKinnon rejoices.

Public displays of affection clearly create a hostile environment in schools, and this girl was justly punished for creating discomfort through her actions.

More politically-correct crapola "qualitative study" data from a bozo that thinks it's cool to trash straight men.
