I think Rosie O'Donnell got off easy for her racist Chinese "impression", and I suspect it is in large part because she is a lesbian.
If she were a white male, I am sure she would have received harsher punishment than, well, no punishment at all, which is what she got.
It would be nice for you to acknowledge the rampant misandry in the media as well, though, it is so embedded in our culture that it is almost a given that sexist, derogatory comments are made by women about men.
Your omission of any mention of misandry speaks volumes in itself.
You make no mention at all of Rosie O'Donnell's racist anti-Chinese "impression" and backpedaling apologia. That episode seems more in line with your commentary than her 9/11 comments - is racism all about black and white......?
So hit him where it hurts, but don't curtail free speech. He certainly has the right to say anything he wants, but I would prefer he do that in his basement rather than over the airwaves.
On the other hand, I love our Constitution. I certainly don't want to sacrifice the Bill of Rights just because a cranky bigot got in a lather while on the air.
These boys' families have been bankrupted and they have been paraded around in the media for months. Meanwhile, some of the Broadsheet feminists think we should have a different justice system for men accused of rape.
Thanks for showing us the true bigoted face of American feminism.
If the charges are indeed dropped, we'll hear a lot of instances of "I told you so." Let's hope few of them are "I told you women should never report rape."
While we're at it, let's hope women across the country aren't saying "all men are rapists." It sounds like a sentiment many sexist Broadsheet feminists hold true.
A statement by North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper:
...However, Cooper said no charges will be brought against the accuser, saying she “may actually believe” the many different stories she told. “We believe it is in the best interest of justice not to bring charges,” he said.
Wonderful.
Wow, you seem more forgiving of a stripper who perjured herself and a malicious, unethical prosecutor than you do of men who have been falsely accused of a felony that could have led to decades in prison.
The same prosecutor's office in which you put so much faith has decreed it will not prosecute the stripper, Crystal Magnum, for filing a false police report based on her false allegations. Despite ample evidence laid out in the press regarding the improperly formatted line up, evidence placing one of the boys elsewhere during the alleged incident, and Nifong's biased and wholly unprofessional comments throughout the media circus he orchestrated, you still had faith in him.
Meanwhile, the boys' families are $3 million in debt due to legal fees from this ordeal. Yet, you express nothing in the way of basic human concern for their fate. Your silence regarding their situation is palpable.
I guess being a straight, white male is a crime, nowadays.
The silence, too, from feminist blogs who previously excoriated these boys is, well, quite deafening.
See Yahoo feed on the story, including a statement from the prosecutor's office, which has access to all of the evidence in the case.
Lin Farley, you should educate yourself before you further smear these boys and lend credibility to the woman who made false allegations. The prosecutor's office declared they believe no attack occurred and that the accused are innocent.
...In a blistering assessment of the case, Attorney General Roy Cooper dropped all charges against the players, all but ensuring that only one person in the whole scandal will be held to account: Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong.
"This case shows the enormous consequences of overreaching by a prosecutor," Cooper said.
Cooper, who took over the case in January after Nifong was charged with ethics violations that could get him disbarred, said his own investigation into a stripper's claim that she was sexually assaulted at a team party found nothing to corroborate her story, and "led us to the conclusion that no attack occurred....The attorney general said the eyewitness identification procedures were unreliable, no DNA supported the stripper's story, no other witness corroborated it, and the woman contradicted herself.
"Based on the significant inconsistencies between the evidence and the various accounts given by the accusing witness, we believe these three individuals are innocent of these charges," Cooper said. He said the charges resulted from a "tragic rush to accuse and a failure to verify serious allegations."
"I think a lot of people owe a lot of apologies to a lot of people," Cooper said."
There must be hope for the Middle East when a Jewish banker gets in trouble for doing favors for his on-the-job girlfriend, the Libyan feminist.
I think the gender gap in coal mining, steel refining and garbage collection is much wider than that in computer science.
Strange how there is no feminist clamoring for remedies in those jobs....
