“Who pays you [Steele-the-First] to post your dark and paranoid obsessions about Jews and their evil plot to advance the Holocaust narrative? You disguise your anti-Semitism as criticism of Israel…[G]iven your hatred of Israel and your contempt for Jews, where do you propose Jewish people live?”
Wow: Sounds like a feminist!
Criticizing Israel is no more anti-Semitic than criticizing the Third Reich was anti-German. The truth is, the “history” of Israel is heavily biased by writers like Leon Uris who downplayed the fact that Arabs were living on the land Jewish thugs (THUGS, not “all Jews”) stole.
That Jews had suffered in Europe is well established. The problem is the post-Holocaust solution was to visit another Nakba on non-Europeans. Hitler, thinking he could use the British Navy after he quickly conquered that island, planned not on gassing Jews. He wanted to ship them to Madagascar. Other plans had included Uganda and other destinations. The tragedy was that the Allies did not give Jews part of Germany-Italy-Japan. It gave them half of Palestine.
And there is where history has ill-served Arabs.
Only recently have JEWISH historians, viewing official archives, admitted Israel was created by terrorism. Jewish gangs (including Irgun, Palmach, Haganah and the Stern Gang…which targeted civilians) drove poorly-or-un-armed Arabs from their villages by “shock and awe.” Ever since, Israel has BEGUN every one of its wars, justifying them on “security” (but only for Jews) in order to steal ever-more land.
Little of this gets mentioned in the USA where citing Israel’s clay feet can sink your career. Pitbulls like Dershowitz get unleashed to cast aspersions. As brilliant as Al might be as a lawyer, he’s as biased toward Arabs as fellow academic William Shockley (co-creator of the transistor) was toward blacks.
Another irony: The biggest critics of Israel are Jews living in Israel, not so-called liberals in “free press” in American. The Israeli commentators are brilliant, honest, courageous, widely-read…and mostly ignored politcally.
And the “history” of Israel is a perfect example of politicalization. The responses to Steele and others show just how “open and tolerant” some folks aren’t when they think their ox is being gored.
Pity the poor Palestinians, now treated by Israelis like Jews in WWII Germany. Only it's now Ashkenazis acting like Nazis. Since Israel can’t openly gas Arabs, it’s decided to slowly poison them with endless restrictions on movement, education, food, healthcare, etc. For those who wonder how the Holocaust could have happened, behold Israel: It openly bombs the Gaza ghetto with impunity, just like Germans did Warsaw. The latter travesty, alas, had no chance of being covered in real-time by reporters with camcorders. Yet had Germany sued for peace, it would have spun ITS evil deeds as security measures, too.
“Never again” happens again when abused people do not grieve their injustices but instead inflict them on others. Ralph Fiennes’ camp commandant firing randomly at Jewish prisoners is no different than IDF punks shooting Arab kids for kicks. Grandfatherly Jews forced to publicly eat grass in the Third Reich are mirrored today by pregnant Arab women forced to stand in long lines for hours by bored teen soldiers. The motive is identical: Humiliate "the Other."
Israel tells the world it, like Germany, is a superior country. Then it acts shocked, shocked when its excesses are pointed out and pouts that reporters are being "unfair." So, is it a light unto nations…or a blight?
As for its endless claim that coverage of its acts are “unfair,” when has IT ever honestly portrayed Palestinian motives or actions? Rarely if ever. It prefers to presents itself as the aggrieved party, the husband “forced” to batter his wife because she “provoked” him.
Odd how a superpower with atomic weapons fears flying coffee cans fired by the people whose necks it steps on.
Feminism has a lot in common with Israel. Both began with grand claims, then devolved into antitheses. They’re perfect examples of ‘Animal Farm.’ Their unchallenged “ideologies” became toxic. The end up opposite of how they began. In that they’re like the French and their infamous Revolution. They began with calls for “liberty, fraternity, and equality," then killed their king, who was actually reforming France at the time. Soon the “people’s courts” became worse than those they’d destroyed. Tumbrils rolled to guillotines filled with innocents, then the Revolution’s stars. Stability, of sorts, returned with an emperor-dictator: Napoleon. He then plunged the continent into total war. Twice.
So stop the blatherskite about Israel being above reproach. It’s no better than other nations. Plus it's questionable that its people suffered more than all others. I doubt Russians or Ukrainians or Armenians or Laotians would agree that Jews suffered more than their own people.
That being said, the undeniable horror of the Holocaust SHOULD have resulted in Jews being hypersensitive to injustice everywhere (like American Jews were during the Civil Rights movement). Yet Sharon is no Seinfeld, and Israelis are not like Jews in America.
America should stop aid to Israel. Enough! We should help Puerto Rico, not an arrogant racist state with no Constitution or fixed borders that openly treats Arabs racistly. Israel has become a bully, using overwhelming force against relatively powerless others. Its Jewish citizens now act like Aryans in the Mideast.
Yaweh must weep.
Again.
"Well, I really don’t want to hijack this thread and make it all about me and the Holocaust, but suffice it to say, the stories I was raised with – and they gave me nightmares – about soap and lampshades made from human skin, is one good example. I was also shown pictures from textbooks in school of ovens from concentration camps with ashes and bones popping out. I was told Jews basically stood in line, and were thrown in the ovens while still alive. I was never told that the ovens were there to burn those that had already died. And we all know the numbers of Auschwitz victims have been revised over the years."
An interesting set of issues to raise, however, revisions of numbers of dead vs. imprisioned and survived that may have occured over the years is hardly anything someone without an agenda would describe as debunking. We are still discussing inodinate numbers of deaths for a simple prison camp, and as to classification (which may be what you are talking about) as to someone being classified as Jew, Gypsy, Homosexual, etc. some comfusion on those numbers occur because persons imprisoned might have had more than one classification. The survivor who infomed my parents about the piece of human flesh he found in his rations at At Auschwitz for example was both a Gypsy and a Jew.
As to the stories of lamp shades, soap, and the aforementioned meat. I am not so great a scholar on the subject as to differntiate between hyperbole and fact. However, I again would say, that disproof of an urban legend is not the same as a debunking of facts of the Holocaust.
This is roughly equivilant of those people who say, Mr. Obama was born outside of the united states, and upon seeing his birthcertificate immedeatly begin saying that Hawaii isn't really a state.
The reality is, the Holocaust occured, millions of humans lost their lives in what stands today as the most successfull short term ethnic cleansing policy ever seen. To utilize hyperbolic stories as an excuse to lessen it's historical impact is akin to suggesting that Because there was no Gulf of Tonken attack the vietnam war could not have occured.
