In "The Age of Reagan," liberal historian Sean Wilentz reckons with the enormous, ongoing influence of the teflon president.
  • You got what you deserve

Reagan came after Carter, the worst bar none, President of the US since maybe Harding or Grant. You see people like to be an angry mob. After Nixon came Ford, Ford pardoned Nixon, so Carter got elected. But voting in Carter was maybe the stupidest thing Americans collectively have done, in the 20th century. So after 4 years of that goat rodeo they elected Reagan. Hell, the GOP could have run a hatrack against Carter and won. And what is the Dems response to that? Mondale and Dukakis. Wow.
