This article is pissing about nothing.
All I see is Jacoby plying her own fetishes and complaining that not everybody else agrees with them.
For half the time I agree with her, the other half I totally disagree.

Growing influence of religion in civic life: So what? Powerless people will resort to anything to help them along. Tell me what the left is doing to the right to make them feels so helpless, then you have youyr answer.

NONE of us know for certain that there never was an Evil Demon setting up the world to look as if it had a certain past natural history. Granted, the evidence is pretty convincing from a worm's eye view, but it is not a God's eye view, only a limited answer handed to us, by nature, by circumstance, by a god/gods maybe? Nobody knows. I see both sides, evolution and creationism, as right AND as wrong.
For all the talk about wanting open dialog between groups of thinkers, you can see everyday on Broadsheet how I am harangued for having a different viewpoint and all but shut out for expressing it to others. Such FAIRNESS. Such OPEN DIALOG we have here. I do not think more than a small fracton of women on there even bother trying to see things from my point of view in the first place.

I do not consider the left or right to be much different from each other, both are flavors of big government corporate fascism.

A) Poisoned - The current administration's EPA not enforcing air quality levels, EPA also undercutting restrictions on mercury content in our waterways, and the administration cutting the budget of product inspectors of goods received from overseas,
One hand (left) and the other (right) are BOTH evil in their unique ways. The right allows mor poisons into the environment, the LEFT all but FORCES more poisons, in the form of nasty [irresponsible all-but-placebo yet harmful in their own mind control way] drugs like Ritalin and Prozac into our bodies.
Both sides are demons trying to poison the system, be it nature, or us.
B) Spied On - Do I even have to list the FISA violations undertaken by our government, the databases that the Dept. of Homeland Security is creating, the silent warrant to look at people's library usage, the proposal for giving utility meter readers the responsibility to look into people's homes for any signs of unlawful activity?
Clinton era violations were rampant but kept underground. Both left and right look forward to the new world order brought about by endless snooping on Americans. Democrat? Republican? It is about two mafia families vying for control of the domain. I do not see much changing if the Dums come back into the White House, as has been amply proven by the do-nothing, know-nothing leftists who came back into power in 06. I do see more big government, more oversight and control of everyone, more forced drug taking by those who protest or by the weak and the innocent.
C) Told What to Do - Do you mean things like No-fly lists, a national ID card, getting finger-printed if you want to be a real-estate agent?
The LEFT is quite proud of what is happening in this country now, with all the new control mechanisms being implemented. You cannot pretend otherwise.

There are NO gods, or "God" - never was, never will be. We are orphans in a purposeless cosmos and there are no cosmic sugar daddies or "Santas" to hold your hand. As researcher Michael Persinger has shown, all of these arrive via micro-seizures in the temporal lobes of brains. Hence, people like you mistake brain aberrations for revealing reality.
Evolution, meanwhile is a FACT - and we fully have the evidence in toto for macro-evolution. If you are able to understand it, you would do yourself a favor by consulting:

In the meantime, I heartily prescribe a course of electro-convulsive therapy for you. It would help to re-order your obviously deformed neurons, and make you better able to participate as a grown adult (as opposed to a backward, whiny child) in online debates, discussions.
