The global was interesting, but...

I heard the author do an essay on NPR recently and while the global themes of family feuds and estrangement were compelling, the backdrop of Sweet 'N Low was a little surreal. I'm glad to hear you say this works better in the book. I'll look for it!

Strictly sugar for me, thanks!

I appreciate the great service that the "diet sugar" (as a friend calls it) producers have done for the diabetics of the world. However, to many of us "ordinary folks," the synthetics just never match up to the original, taste-wise. Using the real thing need not jeopardize one's health as long as you remember "everything in moderation" - including sugar!
