Sounds interesting. I've known people James writes about but without the desire to be cured. It seems people have furtive sex for all kinds of reasons. Straight people have sex in parks and bathrooms and anywhere else a gay person would and I certainly wouldn't pin hatred of their sexuality on it. People may not have the time, money or place for anything else. It seems more of a giving over than anything. Still, sounds like a good summer read to me.

You seem to have issues with "homosexuals." First off, we're people. Human. Our sexuality is homosexual. As for gays, as a heterosexual male I could not care less what other people do with their body parts, but I do draw the line at public bathroom sex, gay or straight. (Is there such a thing as straight bathroom sex? Difficult, but not impossible. To put it simply, I do not want humping from the next stall, and I especially do not want to send my young son into a bathroom with humping in the next stall. It's noisy, irritating and takes up a stall that someone may actually need for its legitimate purpose. In many New York parks, public toilets have been locked because they had virtually been taken over for sex and drugs, which is very inconvenient for families in the park. It is no different from the issue of camping in city parks - they are not designed to be campsites. It is just selfish and irresponsible behavior.

Hello.....if you don't think that people are having heterosexual encounters at the park, you are selectively blind. I have never had sex in the park, in a public toilet, etc, but it goes on, and it's not just men who are gay. In fact, it seems to me (although I can't state this as fact-only a personal observation from numerous online chats, etc), that the ones who are engaging in public sexual behavior are the ones who are deeply closeted and/or have self-loathing issues. You know, like married guys who sneak around to get some male/male action. Every gay man that I know (myself included, obviously) is happy within their own skin and does not need to go to the park, public toilets, etc, to get sex.

Now, let me ask you this-have you ever encountered two men having sex in the part or in a public toilet? Don't confuse homophobic myth with reality.

If you live in the city you should know that 95% of the bathroom fucking that Hannaham is talking about is in the gay clubs and bars.

So if you're at the Manhole or Ramrod in the gay district at 2am and the bouncer is wearing leather chaps and the bartenders are shirtless - yes, there will be fucking in the backrooms and bathooms.

Straightwise - if you're at some trendy club at 2am and some international DJ is spinning groovy shit - yes there might be fucking and a lot of drug taking in the bathroom stalls.

Neither of the above are family-oriented places, so no one needs to be worried about their precious children bothered by the adult hedonism.

If you or any other adult is in any of the above places, then I have to wonder if you really think such venues are the places to go for a little peace and quiet when you have to take a dump.

I bet you the city's homeless population and their attendant problems and behaviors are much more the reason why so many park bathrooms were closed for a while. Although in the past few years I've never encountered a closed park bathroom in Brooklyn or Manhattan (during daylight hours, anyway).
