Brightstar, why do you spend so much time ranting on Salon?

Didn't you say somewhere else that your girlfriend wants to marry you? Why don't you just marry her, live happily ever after, forget all about those obnoxious women that did you wrong, and stop trashing women you don't know? Why don't you move to China with her, or travel together, or invite her to move in with you? Why don't you do something to be closer to her, like learning Cantonese, or Mandarin, or whatever Chinese language she speaks (if you are not already familiar with the language), and practice conversing in that language with her? I'm sure she would really appreciate it, and love it.

It looks like you have an out, so why aren't you taking it?

I really don't understand what you get out of leaving messages complaining about America and the women in it and feminism when you can do something to change your situation.

lost

so you dispute what I say? divorce is rampant, men are separated from their kids, and it is MY problem?!?

women trash men for the same things the women themselves do and it is MY FUCKING PROBLEM?!?

whatever delusion you're under buddy, I do not want to be near it. Nobody needs a passive weenie telling them what to think. Unfortunatley I think that is the future of whsat is left of this counry, knuckling under and just taking the licks. But ONLY if you are MALE.

A note to all Salon posters: As John has just shown us, an ounce of irony outweighs a gallon of vitriol. Ouch!

@brighstar 2

>>I am tired of forty years of men being trashed wholesale in every possible way on every possible forum. Brightstar, I've been around, and male, these past forty years and more, but I have never found this to be true in any truly measurable way (at least since junior high school). After all, women are trashed all the time, not least on Salon's comments pages. It seems to me that you can only be referring to some specific grievances in your own biography and not to society as a whole. Care to elaborate? It might be easier to deal with whatever happened to you rather than try to change the culture, which will go its own way whatever we mere mortals attempt to do.

Most people like GLR I know

Are sad, pathetic men AND women who have nothing even civilized to say to anyone about anything. If it doesn't have to do with them putting people down in order to feel good about themselves then it's not shit. Sex? Dear God, they've been so busy dissing people, they stopped having sex 15 years ago. Now when they have to drive a van because it's the only thing they can shrug their fat drunk asses into, it's to go to meet with the other spiteful, backbiting crybabies who are even bigger bitches then they are.

I used to think that only women could be catty, but men like GLR proved me wrong.

Most 46 year old women I know

Are 70lbs overweight harpies who have nothing even civilized to say to anyone about anything. If it doesn't have to do with them complaining about something then it's not shit. Sex? Dear God, they stopped having sex 15 years ago. Now when they have to drive a van because it's the only thing they can shrug their fat drunk asses into, it's to go to meet with the other hens who are even bigger bitches then she is.

Well...

I quite enjoyed "The Epicure's Lament," which could be attacked for containing a cliched misanthropic male protagonist. So what? Though I am male, I plan on reading this as well. True brilliance can sometimes manifest in making a cliched character or situation entertaining.

Kate Christensen and the mirror self

The glossy surface of this book hides a greater deepness and richness that the review barely hints at. We see how the sexual flowering of the main character plays a haunting counterpoint to her friend's empty shell. Words alone cannot resolve this bitter pairing, as one woman reaches incredible sexual heights and the other grovels on her knees to her god, a mexican god, a catholic god, an aztec god, a god of vengeance in the bright heat of the patio.

wow, Weirdo

after your awesome post, I have a newfound respect for you

I can help you

...for the people who think I'm a hypocrite, just look at the oldest posts from some men re: this article. Do you think they're nice? Kind? They immediately attack women in their 40s.

I know you cannot be talking about me, since I only post honest, objective observations about women. But let me defend those guys who are not nice.

Nice meant something in the days when women still liked men and respected them. Since we men now know that you women only disrespect us UNTIL we do what you say, at which point you ALSO disrespect us for doing what you say, we men can only conclude that you women just SUCK.

Hence, no point in being nice anymore, is there?

This is the attitude that I find so annoying in the US.

Welcome to the male experience. I am tired of forty years of men being trashed wholesale in every possible way on every possible forum. These hate crimes have left men outside of the courts, wondering why they no longer have access to justice while you women laugh at how stupid we men are.

Again, it goes back to the fact that you women just despise us, period. It is now that we finally understand this and thus no longer act nice.

And this is the attitude I rejected in my previous post about many American men not knowing how to treat women.

We know damn well how to treat you women. We CHOOSE not to treat you nice as a response to what is conspiring in this country under the hate regime called feminism.

Frankly, I do not see a reason to EVER treat American women nicely, at least until I die of old age. Figure, you women have trashed men for over forty years. Since I am finally returning the favor only these last two or three years, and I sincerely believe in eye for an eye, I guess I will be into my eighties before justice, as I demand it, is finally complete.

Hell, frankly the less well I treat you women, the better and more sex I seem to get.

It's clear that some men on this board have serious issues when it comes to women

NOPE, you women have had serious issues your whole lives, ever since your feminist trainers taught you, while you were still in diapers, that there are two sexes. Women, who are superior and worthy of respect, and men, who are inferior and are to be disrespected all the time, unles you want something from us, in which case it is OK to feign respect.
