Present presidential politics and posturing

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.

As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].

The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint "temperament, judgment, and statesmanship" to lead our nation as well as change our nation's present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.

In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:

1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected " temper and impulse" [Presidential Temperament]?

2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained "Judgment and Caliber"?

3. Does each ticket have a "presidential depth and degree" in regard to their purpose, policies, and positions?

4. Does each ticket have adequate, "understanding and knowledge" of workings around Washington"?

5. Does each ticket have enough "vigor, wisdom and Vision" for the future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?

6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and ex-poser based on "American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul"?

7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity?

If your answer to a majority of the above questions is yes, I suggest you vote for that ticket. As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, Strong's, stamina and strong soul. Rebuild our nation from bottom up in all areas of need, OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will once again restore and rebuild our global standing with the use of maximum international humane diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.

Yours sincerely,

COL. A.M. Khajawall [Ret] MD., Forensic psychiatrist, Colonel, US-AR / MC Combat Stress Control[Ret], Disabled American Veteran and Iraq Freedom team.

Russia

I just watched McCain tout, again, Alaska's proximity to Russia.

Has anyone else noticed they never say Putin?

Valdimir Putin is a scary, vicious, leader.

Does anyone really believe that Palin can standup to Putin?

And don't yell sexist! I can see many woman such as Hillary Clinton, Madaline Albright, hell Mary Matlin, could do it. Palin? He would squash her.

Please Main Stream Media, don't let them chant Russia without pointing out Putin.

"A huge, huge Democratic wave"

From your mouth to God's ear, Kos. From your mouth to God's ear.

Ooops. I meant Palin hand.

Never mind. *blush*

Ai yi yi, 350 electoral votes?

I'm sure Markos knows what he's doing throwing that out there, but, even if optimistic bravado, I hope that sort of thing doesn't get spun into "presumptuous" or "Obama thinks he's going to pick out the White House curtains".

Watching the RNC right now, with the meme that everyone's ganging up and being sexist by vetting Palin because McCain didn't, it's so hard to escape that Karl Rove is basically just a junior high "mean girl".

You are known for your predictions

You are known for your predictions

I think that was supposed to be a joke. Kos often jokes about how bad he is at predicting elections.

kos = douchbag

It's hard to imagine anyone who has done more lasting damage to the level of politics in America then Kos' pet blog. It is an echo chamber of absolute sewage and cynicality

Rock on, Kos!

droliver.... it's DOUCHE BAG. At least study your insults. Spelling counts.

Kos has made a major difference, I'll agree. I will also say that he's antidote to the Hannity/O'Reilly crowd, and he has something that you might not recognize; synchrony with a large following. The man has his hands around a dynamic that the right wing does not understand. He is using it well; inventing it as he goes. If ever there were a good example of Sun Tzu, it is my opinion that Kos is it.

And while you may consider him to be a DOUCHBAG, I think he rocks and love him.

BTW... why use 'douchbag' for an insult? You want an insult call him "George W. Bush". That is about the most condensed insult you could level at a thinking human being.

@ droliver

It's hard to imagine anyone who has done more lasting damage to the level of politics in America then Kos' pet blog.

It's not necessary to try to imagine it. All one has to do is turn on Fox News, anytime of the day or night, and chances are very good you'll be looking at someone who's done far more lasting damage to the level of politics in America. Or tune into a radio station carrying Rush, or any of the dozens of B-list AM Rush-wannabees. Or pick up any of Ann Coulter's books out of a remainder bin. Or leaf through one of MediaCorp's newspapers to the editorial section, where right-wing pundits are paid to write lies in the name of "balance". Etc, etc.

Any one of those people have done far, far more damage to politics -- not to mention the country itself -- than Kos ever could.

ropty

You are right -- he does do that. I didn't pick up that it was most likely a joke, in this case. Just hope that others pick up on it too, and that no one runs with it. :o

Over 300 isn't out of the question, since fivethirtyeight at the moment has him above there based on the current polls. But of course, a lot could change (and we have to see what kind of bounce they can pull off at the RNC).

I hope Moulitsas is correct about Obama winning...

But I have my very serious doubts.

I think one of the most salient traits of the American mentality is the rock solid certitude Americans have about themselves - especially the right-wing - and it's only getting worse.

Just one example is our idea of Democracy and our noble mission to spread it across the world. Pretty much since the Spanish-American War, all we've have done is spread a really pernicious form of Capitalism, and supported really evil dictators in the noble cause of "Democracy" - and continue to delude ourselves right up to the present regarding this country's place in history.

I think Sarah Palin is just another example of the leftist feminist ideal being co-opted by reactionary right-wingers that Sue Faludi wrote so eloquently about over ten years ago (yes, I read Backlash). Palin: no stay at hope and bake cookies kind of mom she.

But I agree with Kos in that we must go three steps forward, two steps back, four steps forward, one step back, etc. in order to gain our left-wing victories. I see the fact that we are openly discussing issues like Gay liberation and marriage equality, and think nothing of a woman potentially becoming president (regardless of her politics) or the fact that we have an Afro-American Secretary of State as a real measure of our agenda's success.

It's sad that we may end up yet with an amendment which prevents us from freely burning the American flag for which that flag stands for.
