Christopher Hitchens on the secular left?
Uh, there seems to be something amiss here. Hedges wants to dump Hitchens into the secular left. Then he admits that Hitchens USED to be on the left. A little misleading, don't you think? Hitchens supposedly saw the light when Ronald Reagan was prez and joined the right. Now he supports the neocons. He obviously is secular, but please don't try to connect him to the left. Secularism is hardly the scourge that Hedges would have us believe. Is it ok for religious hacks to scam donations out of thier flocks? Senator Grassley doesn't think so. Does a secular opposition mitigate that simply because they don't support religion? Believers versus non-believers shouldn't be used to cloud issues in today's world.
