Letters to the Editor

This letter is associated with the following article:
Historian and former nun Karen Armstrong says the afterlife is a "red herring," hating religion is a pathology and that many Westerners cling to infantile ideas of God.
  • Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens Have Something In Common

They are both religious bigots. Anyone - and I mean ANYONE - who makes the claim that those with religious beliefs are somehow dumber, lamer, more prone to idiocy, etc. than the rest of society is, prima facie, a religious bigot. The fact that their bigotry comes from a lack of belief instead of a different belief means nothing.

All religion is essentially private, and should remain so. Fundamentalists of all stripes are giving the rest of us a bad name, and they should just knock it off.
