"Christianists are Traitors to the USA"
Amen. If you put some of the things these people say into the mouths of Islamist or Communists, nobody would miss how dangerous and subversive their philosophy is.
We are lucky that, for now, these people are still a minority. What keeps me up at night is that people just don't get it; people at large don't understand how potentially dangerous these groups are. People need to stop worrying about the fake "war on Christmas" and think about what life will be like when your sister can be thrown in jail for wearing a bikini and you can be executed for adultery.

This movement makes me very sad
I am not a Christian, but I seem to remember reading that Jesus' message was about love for all, caring for those less fortunate and recognizing that we all share the same desire to make the world a better place for ourselves and those about whom we care.
God is love -- not dominion, not vengeance, not flag-waving Mein Kampf patriotism.
I am hopeful that this book and others like it will inspire true Christians everywhere to stand in protest against those who would use their religion as an offensive weapon against others who believe differently.
We don't need another Inquisition; no more Crusades, Manifest Destiny, Jim Crow or Holocausts. We need to take the time to share our differing perspectives of The Divine and celebrate those differences.
I speak of more than a pipe dream. I am not the only one who feels this way. I look forward to the day when we can tell the story of how we overcame the distrust and misunderstandings that fuel the Christian Nationalist and similar movements.

Christianists aren't really Christians
When I was a young man in Catholic School I was taught that true Christians don't judge others and teach by example. We leave the judging to God and live our lives as beacons in the darkness. We don't impose our beliefs on anyone - false conversions are as odious in the eyes of God as unrepentant sinners. Frankly, when I read about these so-called "Christians" I'm shocked at their ignorance or disregard for even the most basic teachings of Christ. If these so-called Christians are true followers of Jesus Christ they ought to be concerning themselves with ministering to the poor and aleviating suffering on earth than accruing political and temporal power. They don't care about God or Jesus, all they care about is self-aggrandizment and imposing their will on others. May God forgive them.

The christians are coming, the christians are coming !
Geez Michelle, take breath. Is that the christians are taking over or that people have grown tired of being forced to accept abhorrent behavior as normal ?
Michelle, chritianity has been here over 2000 years. wake up.
Thirty years ago, this story would have started:
Secular activists are organizing to establish an American anit-theocracy. A frightening look inside the growing left-wing movement.
You lack perspective.

Dang Liberals!
Like all problems facing the world today the rise of “Christian” Nationalism is caused not by the embracing of insanely anti-American ideals by the right, but by the petty ignorant actions of activists on the left.
A man like Roy Moore, gave the Left more than enough ammunition to show that he was a bigoted, prejudice filled, activist judge who was not fit for the bench. Do they move to have him removed from cases involving gays, since he clearly is biased? Do they move to have him held up for ridicule for his acceptance of outmoded racist ideals, and force him into retirement? No, they decide to take on a controversial case that has no bearing on Moore’s legal ability.
The displays of overt religiosity in this country can be ignored provided they do not influence the enforcement of the law. I do not see how the existence of a Ten Commandments monument could possibly influence a Jury in a case. Although the jury may be reminded that murder is frowned on by both God and Man, they will not be asked to hear a case on the practice of idolatry, taking the Lord’s name vain, or keeping holy the Sabbath day. Even if such a case were to some how be tied back to the commandments, a simple instruction of the judge that they were there to decide the laws of Man, and not the laws of God, should be sufficient, provided the attorney’s are doing their jobs.
Yes if a legislature wishes to enact blue laws (which incidentally right wing capitalist oppose as well), that is a case for the ACLU. If a legislature wishes to declare an official religion, that is certainly a case for the ACLU. If a public official maintains ideas and beliefs that violate the equal protection clause of the United States constitution it is the duty of every citizen to rise up and make noise opposing them. But if local officials, decide to parlay some feel good religiosity into public trust by erecting or maintaining religious symbols, then that is a matter solely for the local population to decide if it is improper.
Roy Moore’s intent may have been evil in having the monument erected, but his action itself was benign. By attacking a benign action the Left appears as bullies, playing right into the “Christian” Nationalist’s hands. It allows them to play the victim, and conceal their true agenda.
The idea that someone who is a person of good conscience would be swayed by some religious decoration is an insult to the common sense of the American people. Likewise those people of malevolent intentions do not need an icon to remind them of their hatreds.
The left’s worrying about non-issues is what brings our country to the dark cross roads we now stand at. Forget about the public displays of religion, and instead focus on public displays of hatred and idiocy. If the left did that, they would find their opposition would quickly shrink down to the minor group of fringe radicals that actually buy into the “Christian” Nationalist agenda.
I’ve always held that one can not blame the Republican’s for the state of America today. They did their job, and did as they promised, to run America like a business with cold ruthless efficiency, like Enron. It was the Democrat’s job to be the conscience of America, and through their conflict a safe middle way would appear.
In my opinion the left hasn’t shown up for work since 1992, and have been focusing on image at the cost of substance. A powerful opposition party that never held the presidency or the congress again, would be better than the weak scattered force that makes up the left today.
Any way, that’s more than enough from me. I thank you for your consideration of my humble opinions.
Sincerely,
Charlie Esser
