...about thinking that you and/or your loved ones may die in filth. Here's another one: Realising that the leaders of your country do not care.
I think the only reason anyone still supports Bush is because they really think he is a Man of God. As far as they're concerned if people died during Katrina it's just as well because they most likely weren't "Saved", and thus got what was coming to them anyway. The same people who would drag Ms Schiavo from her deathbed didn't care about those who not only died because of the storm, but suffered horrible deaths because they already already had cancer or other health problems...just as it's a good thing to trash the planet because those "Left Behind" certainly don't deserve a decent world to live in...
Then there are those who don't believe this, but use those who do as political pawns--those who live in wealthy, gated communities and know full well that if there's a natural disaster their high-up Rethug buddies will do all they can for them. The wealthy will be pampered (or, in the case of David Vitter, wear Pampers). Everyone else can drop dead in filth.
for both republicans and democrats alike for the lack of preparation before Katrina and the lack of response post Katrina, but who had the most power to do something before, during and after Katrina? PRESIDENT bUSH, and of course, KKKARL rOVE. If bush would've simply ordered the national guard of ALL the gulf states to prepare by loading up their vehicles with water, food, first aid supplies, bedding and clothing, and start proceeding to the MS/LA gulf area the day prior to Katrina hitting land, he would've been a hero instead of a zero. The fact that most of the National Guard of the gulf states(and most other states)already having been deployed to Iraq would not have been pretty, but the fact that bush DID NOTHING is FAR WORSE, obviously. Good (non) move, president bush and KKKarl rove!
You idiots keep harping on the magic bus story, "If only Democrats would have driven those buses, nobody would have died in New Orleans." Is that it?
This is the kind of crap that vividly demonstrates how right-wingnut Republicans can believe in Creationism and the Wisdom of George W. Bush: by believing that buses can be magically driven over flood waters by Democrats, and if the Democrats don't magically transport to the buses and magically drive the buses over the flood waters, ala Jesus walking on water, then, presto, chango!, the floodwaters that the Democrats don't magically drive the buses over is......wait for it.....the Democrats fault!
And, in the spirit of completely ignoring ALL evidence that might make their pointy little heads explode, the Bush-is-Jesus-returned-to-us trolls never allow minor details to get in the way of their self-reinforcing delusions.
Evidence such as the fact that while Bush was trying to blackmail a Governor by holding the lives of the citizens of her state hostage and only offering assistance if she allowed the unconstitutional Federalization of her state, Bush made NO such request of any Republican run state - and, indeed, no prior president has ever done so either. Florida managed to get aid after Hurricane Andrew without Bush's daddy asking Bush's brother to turn Florida over to the Feds, and, of course, Bush never asked his brother to Federalize Florida after 4 hurricanes in a row swept across the state.
How come, trolls? What bullshit fairytale do you tell yourselves about that?
Or evidence such as the video conference of Bush promising Louisiana's state officials all the Federal aid they would need, THE DAY BEFORE Katrina hit, and then ignoring the state for days while its citizens died.
Or the inconvenient fact that Al Gore, as a private citizen, managed to do what Bush was unable, or more to the point, unwilling to do - get helicopters, fly into New Orleans and evacuate a hospital, saving lives.
And, of course, trolls will forever pretend that Bush and Rove never created a false photo op and then were so callous, so criminal, that rather than allow the troops and the equipment to remain and continue working, they removed them as soon as the cameras were gone.
I wonder how much in tax dollars were spent to get the cranes and the sandbags and the troops to the broken levee for a photo op, and then to immediately remove them all?
It's bad enough to have a murderer in the White House, it's truly sickening to still find defenders saying anything to avoid admitting that they have supported a murderer all these years.
They would rather keep seeing Americans die than admit they were wrong in their blind adoration of a murderous wanna-be dictator and his two-bit Machiavelli, so they talk about buses.
"MIS-INFORMATION"??? The correct word is LIES?!?! Why are you using newspeak? Misinformation is newspeak for LIES. If you use this word you are one of them.
it looks like Karl needs a little old fashioned justice brought his way.-- jimnor
So, you want to be the next Lee Harvey Oswald?
and can you purchase glaser safety slugs near there? it looks like Karl needs a little old fashioned justice brought his way.
when will the democratic party, or sen. obama himself, step up and channel some of the outrage that was felt around the country and around the world at the katrina fiasco? when, oh lord, when?
My take from Alexander's excellent article is that it is a mistake to label Bush as incompetent. The soon to be former president has known exactly what he's been doing -- perhaps in large part because he had such a devious aid as Karl Rove. One could waste much time debating the merits of labeling Rove as Bush's brain, but it's clear to me that Bush is a political animal of the highest order -- no, really at political beast who will go along with the worst his aides can dream up. It actually takes a good deal of moxie and skill to go along with and pull off staging a phony background at the canal and to look into a camera and tell the people that his administration is hard at working solving problems.
No, Bush is not incompetent at all; he's really quite evil and clever by feigning weakness through his poor communications skills and through the use of the Texas twang to come across as an average guy. On a one on one basis, Bush is quite charismatic and seemingly warm. But Alexander confirms that it's all a facade masking a cold and calculating demeanor that is extremely punitive in nature to those who don't embrace his political ideology.
