Original article: Whose state of denial?

Bob Woodward is no Carl Bernstein

Woodward on Charlie Rose last week: flatfooted and befuddled. Charlie was more skeptical and persistant then usual, though hardly aggressive. But Woodward just couldn't answer in a clear way, he defensivly mumbled generic distractionary nonsense. It was pathetic.

Perhaps it is true after all that Bernstein was the hard worker ( he still does first rate work out of the spotlight, ) and that Woodward was the mediocre glory hound who latched on for the ride.

But to be fair, America whipped itself into a childish frenzy after 9/11. We are *so* insecure and immature that a semi-skilled con artist like Rove could turn 9/11 into 5 years of political invulnerability.

In such a lynch mob environment, it takes a *very* courageous man to speak the truth.

Bob Woodward, being nothing like courageous, rushed to the front of the mob to report the merits of lynching.

And now that it's safe to speak a bit more truth, he pulls out stuff he's probably known for years.

Disgusting.

Original article: Hillary is us

Strong Women

It was thrilling to see a presidential candidate's wife who wasn't a Norman Rockwell show piece, and her "cookie baking" comment really got the wingers undies in a bunch :) GREAT!, but...

Hillary Rodham is not what she seems, and she's certainly not the right woman to break the Presidential gender barrier.

Original article: I Like to Watch

Boston Back,

If you watch T.V. all the time, I guess any show get's tiresome. ( Seinfeld... why did I like that show so much? >> )

But I didn't get to watch much Boston Legal last year, so I'm not sick of it yet.

Besides, it's kind of fun to see what old warhorse T.V. actor they'll pull out next.

The scripts are *still* smarter then 99% of the rest.

And I can *never* tire of Captain Kirk's self absorbed oilyness, I grew up on Trek reruns! It's just fun to see what a monstrosity he's become.

Oh, I'll get tired of it eventually, but not this season.

How nice that no one's shouting "tin foil hat !!"

If Republicans hang on at all, it should finally push the voting machine issue into mainstream credibility.

I hope the Republicans don't fix the election in a subtle way, I hope they panic and do something stupid like changing an 8 point winning Dem into a 5 point loser.

Something to make more people wake up.

Original article: Sullivan's travels

Sullivan, like most popular 'thinkers', follows the prevailing winds..

but would like you to think they're making some kind of deep intellectual journey.

Pop intellectuals are shallower then they seem.

Entertain Us. Bread, anyone?

"It's possible that bitching about the way the iPod has changed the way I listen to music isn't a legitimate gripe about the iPod at all."

Oh come on, it's the only gripe with beef you offer; much more legitimate then consumerist whining about features.

A society that respects only commercial arguments is pathetic.

It's too bad that our most noteworthy technical accomplishments of the recent past are cheaper tools to entertain the masses.

Silly Voters !

Nice people with "good hearts" may make good neighbors, but voting on that basis is foolish.

Not to draw too fine a point, but it's well known that the evil one, ( Adolf Hitler, who else? ) was in person quite a nice and pleasant man. George Bush certainly would have given him the "good heart" seal of approval.

The evil one's history of underhanded and devious actions were a better voter's guide then his sincere charm.

Insane is as Insane votes.

Attention blind, insanely naive people on the left: Just because large numbers of us are furious with Republicans, it does NOT mean we won't vote for them if the alternative is Democrats.

Carly, you may be a very nice person, but you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Reality Based Pot Smoking.

What's funny is that the people who dis marijuana smokers with snide comments like "I prefer reality" are the same people who think we found WMDs in Iraq.

Bush fire Cheney? Can't be done.

Right on,Jimmycarl, that's what I thought when I read this; are media heads are so stupid as to think the President can dismiss the Vice President?

Support of Millions: Saudi Dollars, that is.

Golden Boy sez the truth, Islamic terrorism is well funded all right, but not by regular working Muslims. Islamic Terrorism is funded by George Bush's patron saints; the Saudi Royal Family.

George Bush, working hard for the Saudis, NOT the American people.

The Media Decides who we take seriously.

This is getting pathetic. We think the only "viable" candidates are the ones the media talks about because these candidates the only ones who get the media talking, and we expect the rest of the nation to be so unconcerned and unserious that only a "buzzed" candidate can win, right?

Well we wouldn't need to worry about campaign finance reform if we would just rip our eyes and ears away from the "Boob Tube" and start thinking for ourselves.

And stop being so concerned about "viability." This is one way we get spun into thinking the way others want us to think.

Original article: Bush roars into the 20s

Impeachment not a punishment.

Impeachment isn't mean to punish a President. Being President isn't a right, after all.

Impeachment is meant to stop him from punishing us.
