Good journalism has never been a money maker.

Writing propaganda for the rich pays much better.

The problem with American media isn't that there isn't good journalism out there, it's that the good journalism is overwhelmed by the rich man's propagandists.

I mean, who ya gonna trust, some working-class crank with a keyboard or well-produced cable news by a rich conglomerate?

The conglomerate, of course. They even tell you they're "America's most trusted news source."

Think Tank Twaddle.

"Nobody takes seriously anymore the claim made by many radicals at the time that the Second Indochina War was merely an anti-colonial rebellion that had nothing to do with the wider Cold War. "

Nobody takes this fact seriously anymore? What nonsense. Virtually nobody thinks otherwise!

Except for overpaid Washington think tank wonks.

Explain the Joke.

The hyena is atavistic fear itself. Australopithecine Charlie is the ultimate conservative, his "good old days" are millions of years ago.

The joke is that atavistic fear rules us all, and blinds us.

Conservatives have more atavistic fear.

Funny, no?

Original article: Why we say yes to drugs

America's Drug War exports Hell to other countries.

our self-centered prohibition supports torture and murder of innocents in Mexico, Columbia and others. The most vile sadists get rich and powerful supplying our black markets, and turn the locals lives into hell on earth.

That alone is the best reason to end this stupid drug war.

Say it again...

Anti-abortionists are moral cowards who get a self righteous high from whipping up anger about the fantasy deaths of fantasy babies that never were, while ignoring real world pain and suffering.

Muddy Waters..

Ridiculous conspiracy theories serve to discredit the not-so-ridiculous ones.

Whichever theories those are...

Nope. No Democracy here.

What democracy? I don't see any democracy. Do you?

Nope. We've got a republic, a form of oligarchy with a democratic crust.

Rich get richer by using government power.

The rich tell us they got that way through hard work and virtue.

Maybe they worked hard, maybe they are virtuous, but most don't and most aren't.

The laws help the rich get much richer. Tax laws, investment laws, property laws, commerce laws. The laws act like a big money funnel, pouring the fruits of the workers labor into the pockets of the rich.

And then the rich tell you how much you need them. And a lot of fearful, weak-minded trolls believe them. And then they write long, angry rants here.

No compromising with moral cowards.

Anti-abortionists are moral cowards; they get sanctimonious pleasure from self-righteous anger about imaginary deaths of fantasy babies that never were, ignoring and hiding from real world suffering of real babies.

The Noble Lie, not just for Nobility anymore..

Count me as a Lippmann liberal. Having tried to talk to hundreds of people about political realities, I think most people really aren't able to "handle the truth." Most hard truths aren't pleasant or comforting, and many people aren't willing to accept the emotional costs of understanding.

But as to what those "hard truths" are, or just who is qualified to keep these "secret truths", that's a different matter. Real wisdom and understanding is damn hard to find, and most assertive truth tellers are full of it.

Plato wasn't half as smart as he thought he was, this Bill Kristol guy is an over-educated moron. I'm not claiming any special powers myself, and not even a genius like Einstein could figure out the world.

As usual, finding a solution is a billion times harder then seeing the problem.

My best proposal: truths for those willing to work for them, happy lies for the simple sheep who prefer them!

( IOW, present situation. )

The US Gov. has lost 77% of it's investment in GS.

and it would be nice if you would attribute the vampire squid quote to it's author, Matt Taibbi.

Original article: The right bails on Birthers

How do we get these skeptics on board?

We need to help "O'Reilly, Coulter and others" to accept that Obama has never really proved he's a citizen. They need to get on the Birther bandwagon ASAP.

I can't stand to see the right wing fighting like this :)

Uncle Creepy is right.

This is about Obama. Also about the hazards of seeking a consensus with moon-bat Republicans.

And it's damn funny. One of Bolling's best.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid Tough Guys!

The military does NOT protect my rights and freedoms. Those are protected by my unwillingness to live without them.

I DO NOT OWE ANYTHING to any soldiers who've killed or died in our wars ( since 1812, the last time the U.S. was actually invaded. )

The military is the tool of the rich, and the foolish tough guys who vainly and arrogantly boast about giving us freedom are the most toolish of all.

@Stinks - Wrong.

"Screw them. ANyone who joins the military is stupid, evil and without morals and ethics. They are not to be trusted. Then they sucker fools into joining them."

Wrong. A fool isn't evil. And on top of that, most volunteers don't end up in active duty in a war zone, so they're not even foolish.

Your point is not the same as mine. My beef is with the military worshipers, not the poor kids trying to get money for a college education.
