Beltway Boobs

[Read more letters about this article: Here]For years now every time some one has questioned a beltway pundit’s motives, conflict of interest or political agenda. The response from the Greek chorus of beltway insiders is “just asking that question proves you are an uncivilized barbarian partisan out to unfairly smear one of us, we deserve the benefit of many doubts because we are professionals”. Then when one of them gets caught pushing a political agenda none of the Gang of 500 knows him. “He wasn’t one of us, really”.
These jerks stopped being one of the working class when they sent their kids to private schools and saved enough for a lush retirement with 2 paychecks. Most have more than one home and vacation in places where most average Joe’s couldn’t afford the tips.
I think its time USA Today added (conservative) after Politico’s name when quoting their blog. Politico has proven itself anything but non-partisan.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Last night on 60 minutes Lou Dobbs was interviewed by Lesley Stahl. Ms Stahl questioned Dobbs about his journalistic integrity. (What a laugh coming from her). She repeated the Fox news canard verbatim “where is the fair and balanced” in your reporting she asked. As long as beltway media insist on faux “fair and balanced” the truth is given the same weight and consideration that is given to even the most outlandish lies. BS on “fair and balanced” give me the truth.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mr. Smith first starts by demeaning and belittling any questions raised about Politico. He keeps repeating “Conspiracy”. Then makes sure to announce that he is a senior person at Politico. Mr. Smith blanket defends Politico and its policies in one breath and then admits that he doesn’t really know any facts about its policies. Just casual viewing of Mr. Smith and his “logic” it appears he lives inside the beltway vacuum. You should trust Politico and me because I say so. Not because any excellence in journalism but because I know all the clichés about political reporting (“It’s not Watergate!”) and I shouldn’t be criticized (My readers are Insiders).

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Has anyone else noticed a ratcheting up of the fear factor on corporate media? In one hour on the treadmill, watching TV at the gym. MSNBC gave great plat to Chertoff’s prediction that Al-Queda is poised to strike any day now, but it’s not based on any evidence at all. Dr. Gupta on CNN in his weekly “be afraid” segment (this week it was antibiotic resistant urinary tract infections in children). CNBC has a new series called “Government Gone Wild” with daily reports on the government’s “War on Wealth”. It seems any kind of accountability for Wall Street is considered an outrageous misuse of Government. Then CNN again with why collar bombers are amongst us and that you shouldn’t trust anyone but Wolf Blitzer.

And I’m afraid it going to be tough to discredit that. In the last 6 months after contributing and campaigning exclusively for Democrats it’s been one disappointment after another as the Dems do Bushco’s bidding. My Senators Feinstein and Boxer are AWOL most of the time unless it’s to suck the public teat and line their or their friends pockets. Democracy is becoming like justice you only get what you can pay for.
