You won't have to tell him.

Unless he's a complete idiot, he already suspects, and he'll be looking at your child with an eye for detail. You may have fudged the date of your little fling, but since you can't be trusted to uphold your wedding vows, why would he believe your self-reported specifics?

He won't. He'll probably do one of two things:

1) He'll decide to take a responsibility that he doesn't have to, and clam up.

2) He'll see that the child isn't his, and get the DNA test himself. Then he'll divorce you, as he'll have every right to do, which you know.

But you know what? The fact that the child has some physical difficulties ahead might actually be your saving grace, if you want to call it that. He'd have to live with the additional weight of "abandoning" (not the right word) not just a child, but a child who will need an additional level of care. So I'll bet he stays. Congratu-freaking-lations.

Oh, and Erica? What F'uad said.

I never knew that...

David Eckstein, who's 5-foot-7, soaking wet.

So rain adds height, too? As Mel Allen would have said, "How a-bout that!"

Hard to tell

whether Mr. Shapiro exhibits hope or merely disorientation. The latter would be understandable -- even in the last few days, I was dubious that this electoral shift could actually be pulled off. And thank goodness it happened, but Bush remains who he is.

Despite my personal prediliction to root for such stories of redemption, I don't see it here. It required a deafening clamor from friend and foe alike for Bush to make this necessary move, but he's got a loooooong way to prove that he's pulled his head from the sand.

Gotta do your homework

In Georgia, in a year when Democrats enjoyed an advantage of more than 7 percent in the national vote for all House races, the Democrats in Georgia's 8th and 12th districts were only a few hundred votes away from becoming the only incumbents in their party to lose their jobs on Election Day.

John Barrow, Georgia's 12th district rep, began his political career as a longtime county commissioner in Athens/Clarke County -- along with Decatur probably the most liberal enclave in the state. When he ran for US Rep originally, the district included Athens, which aided his victory.

But reapportionment took Athens away -- it was a blatant attempt by Republicans to steal the district. So Barrow did what he had to do -- he moved to Savannah in order to stay in the district. So what does his Republican opponent do? Call Barrow a carpetbagger!

And despite all this, Barrow retained the seat. GA-12 is a freaking SUCCESS story for the Democrats, which you'd know if you'd looked into the matter before calling it failure.

Hilarious response

"Have a Christmas", indeed.

From the story of last year's gift, it sounds like the LW sent a fairly significant amount of money. If LW is looking to spend a similar amount, then a combination of age-appropriate books and a contribution to a college fund or savings account sounds perfect. Gotta disagree with those advocating sending cash directly to the children -- what the heck is a three-year old going to do with $100 bucks or more??

Vick's numbers

Yeah yeah 9 for 24. Did you happen to notice that he also rushed for 166 freaking yards, the second-most in the history of the NFL for a QB, and his receivers dropped perfectly thrown passes worth at least another hundred? Here's how I look at Vick. I take all the rushing attempts and yards and think of them as completed passes. Suddenly he's 21-36 for 250 yards and no turnovers, with TWO dropped TD passes. Suddenly the blame goes where it most certainly belongs -- the Falcons' crappy receivers.

Also, I thought his apology was pretty straight-up. He flipped off a couple of drunk morons -- I'm still waiting for the world to end.

I haven't read all the "whiz"

but it always struck me that Rodman's emphasis on rebounding to the exclusion of other aspects of the game, and the rebound stats that resulted, was somewhat bogus. In being almost defiantly uninvolved with the set offense, he created a situation where his team was playing 4-on-5. Even with Jordan, that's going to result in more missed shots, and more offensive rebound possibilities -- which Rodman snagged because 1) he WAS a ferocious rebounder, and 2) he was out there freelancing.
