[Read more letters about this article: Here]Who cares? What progress for SA! At the rate they're going they aught to be about as democratic as the former USSR by the time the sun goes super nova. If there is such a thing as god he certainly has a warped sense of humor giving one of the most backward, xenophobic groups billions of barrels of oil. The problem lies in the fact that with all that money the draconian dogma that constitutes religion in SA can be exported in large measure to a world that needs it less than Ebola!
I wonder if all that fancy military hardware will work when it is fed the coordinates of downtown Israel?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]An interesting op-ed piece; and informative. Thanks for the definitions of Muslim and Islam. Unfortunately many people seen to view Muslim and Islam as an Identity and therefore conclude the unacceptable precepts of Islam (by current Christian standards) such as female circumcision and stoning of whores is something that is accepted and followed as faith by Muslims as a whole. Coupled to this is the presence (in America) of large numbers of Evangelical Christians who have their own biases and dogma which seems to make it difficult for them to accept or compromise with other faiths.
The fact that politicians have attempted to exploit the extant situation is, though not condonable, at least understandable. The fact that the public has been unable to see past this chicanery is commendable. Muslims on the other hand need to do much more to disavow the parts of Islam that are not acceptable. given America's unabashed love of overt patriotism American Muslims are going to have to be the most visible of patriots.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]How terrible imagine that! you owe back taxes and credit card debt. Are we supposed to feel sorry because your not too bright? Fraid not. You got the goods, pissed away the booze you bought on credit and crapped out the meals you ate courtesy of Master card. Now it is time to pay up! And cheating the IRS you say Maybe they'll just settle for a pound of flesh without blood but doubt it.
Too bad we don't have debtor's prisons anymore or workhouses. You'd be the perfect candidate.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is a pathetic state of affairs when someone's desire to observe their human emotions toward another is the subject of speculation, rude commentary and suspicion of motives. Mr. Romney should be respected by all and allowed to practice his faith as he sees fit and where it has no impact on others. To the LDS faith the passing of Mr. Gordon Hinckley the faith's leader is a major event, equivalent to a pope's demise and milestone in the church's history. Common courtesy would suggest it be treated as such.
The fact that the vultures and jackals gathered gather to minutely dissect Mr Romney's participation in the funeral only speaks to the pettiness to which American politics has descended.
Looking back, America elected JFK, a practicing Roman Catholic of Irish descent, the playboy son of a ruthless businessman, defeatist and apparent Nazi sympathizer. The world did not end nor did America descend into the depths of hell-- although Nixon may have been the devil's disciple and he was protestant.
Give the man space. Judge him on his politics not his faith!

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Expensive corn isn't going to make American's less obese. What will be required is some sort of miracle. This will be marked by an announcement by one of the fast food companies that one of its 1800 calorie fatso-burgers with 3/4 lb of beef, three slices of cheese-like hydrogenated oil products and corn solids, slathered with some off white lubricant euphemistically called mayonaise plus a 32 oz., 800 calorie pop is not a good lunch for a 16 year old student nor any sentient being for that matter.
Fast food (read high calorie) food producers are not going to go down without a fight just like cigarettes didn't give up easily.
It is convenient to think that there is one cause but it ain't so. Politicians are not going to bit the hands that feeds them by subsidizing foods and food products that are healthful and calorie-wise. Educators are not going to divert resources into educating a largely uneducated consuming public. Not least of concern is the perception that obesity may be more prevalent in some identifiable groups that others. Confronting the latter point and its causes is going to perhaps require more courage than most politicians have.

It might if anyone could agree on what hate speech was! Hate speech is like porno it is all in the eye or more correctly between the legs of the viewer.
What would happen if all the illegals went back to Mexico and the parts that America stole from it. Most of the jobs "taken" by illegals are jobs that Americans won't do or won't do for the money being offered.
It is time that Americans realize that most of the jobs that have gone offshore are NEVER coming back no matter what. red neck bob ain't never going to get that job putting nut "A" on bolt"B" because there is a machine that never tires, doesn't need a smoke break, doesn't go to the bathroom and is probably a lot smarter than Bob.
Time to accept the illegals make them legal and tax them just like the rest of the population.
