  • It Is, Britney Bitch

Poor Britney. I'd feel for her except that she managed to scam 100s of millions from gullible consumers who are dumb enough to believe the hype about her "talent". If she were poor she'd either be living in a dumpster or in jail for offending America's self-righteous sense of moral outrage. As it she will continue on until she either gets it together or runs out of money. It is to be hoped she has some good people looking after her finances. maybe she won't wake up some morning suffering from withdrawal symptoms and broke. Remember even Captain Kirk has been reduced to doing asinine promos for hotels to make up for the $$ ripped off by his agent.

Already the Kirstie Alley full figure is starting to appear, B is 26 I believe and starting to show bloat. This is something that her fans will not stand for. Despite their own obesity, their idols and graven images must have an almost pre-pubescent figure unless they have real talent which B seems to be short of. Coupled with what can be called psychotic behavior, especially her "mothering" skills or lack of which is sure to offend America's moralistic christians she may be doomed to has been status.

Not to worry a new little wonder, Hanna Montana is on the road to living the fantasies of America's pre-teens.

What a sad state of affairs, America is tanking and the likes of B are a main cause of concern!

  • Once and for all, proof that Macs are cheaper than PCs

    Farhad,

You're proselytizing. The belief that one box is better than another is simply that, a belief. There is no way to prove it and the results can go either way depending on the definition of "better". If you want to believe in the god Jobs by all means do so.

Why would you want to be stuck with a box that while retaining its residual is becoming increasingly obsolete second by second? Am I correct in saying that in terms of software availability Apple seems to be way behind the curve?

One of the reasons the PC (all flavours) is so pervasive is that it frees the user from the dictates of the hated IT division. Apple on the other hand just re-establish that bondage.

One last question:- if Apple is cheaper why has the corporate world largely ignored it?

Too bad you couldn't scrounge a freebie. Maybe you should have shelled out an bought a ticket? Sounds like sour grapes to me. Your Op-Ed piece reads like you are pimping for Boeing. Are you? What qualifies you to critique the A380's appearance? Are you a qualified aircraft designer? So you don't like where the drivers sit, so what. Engineering wise I suspect they could sit at the bar in 1st class and drive it from there.

Hard lines that the French (now GWB's best buddies) and the English (not so popular since they got smart about the silliness in Iraq) beat America to the punch with the Concord.

You seem to be in love with the 747, a plane now almost 40 years old. Whats so special about it?

Why not get a ticket in super deluxe class on Singapore Airlines and then tell us how tough things are!

  • Our best friends are scarily, heedlessly in debt

[Read the article: Our best friends are scarily, heedlessly in debt]

I'm sure you at least suspect that you can't change people. They have to have some sort of epiphany and be jolted into changing. Sounds like your friends are of the "me, me" generation where "stuff" is what is important. What is the worst that can happen to them? They go bankrupt and suffer all the consequences. Maybe that's what they're planning to do? Maybe they are borne-again and figure the rapture is coming and their debts will disappear along with all the sinners?

You say they had parents who were always in debt. Sounds like they had good teachers. I'm twice your age and my family came through the depression where if you couldn't pay cash you did without, even supper. To the day he died my father wouldn't eat margarine because it was depression food. I learned from my family no cash no buy. I finished grad school with money in the bank. All this being said I missed the spring break vacations, the skiing trips and new cars, fancy clothes and other things that matter to some people but I always had some money for beer and smokes.

I found out the hard way that telling a friend they have a flaw and then telling them how to fix it pretty well guarantees the loss of that friend. Maybe you can ever-so-gently suggest your friends might benefit from a financial counselor. Perhaps you can show by examplle look for a new car then not buy or lease while moaning about the cost. Whatever you do, don't loan them any money or co-sign!
