Not just Whites, either
[Read the article: The painful task of measuring racism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]About 14% of the US Population is Hispanic. Almost 5% of the poulation is Asian.
They're each gonna have a hard time voting for a black guy, 'cause of all the animosity and rivalry between the groups.
So if Hispanics have a choice between a black DEM, and a white Republican who wants to give them amnesty, Obama could easily lose CA's 54 electoral votes. Then it doesn't matter how well Barack does in MS or VA.

Hoo-Boy . . .
[Read the article: Comparing McCain to an "Internet stock circa 1999"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To think that massive DEM advertising is going to change the general public's mind about McCain seems illogicial to me. McCain has already been "branded"; he's been around forever, he's run for president before, and people know him. If anything, his rock-steady 45% is a "floor", not a "ceiling."
It's Obama who is unknown, and vulnerable to being defined by his opponents. People (the ones who don't read blogs religiously, nor listen to NPR) are still learning about him and his past; learning not from Obama's fans in the MSM, but from his opponents. And it's going to get alot worse once he's the nominee. The GOP 527's are already starting to define him in NC this week.
Progessives need to start dealing with reality about our chances in the general election. Study the presidential elections for the last 30 years, and plan accordingly.
Every four years we say "but it's different this time!", and we're always wrong. Just ask President McGovern, or President Mondale, or President Dukakis, or President Kerry.
IMHO.

Hey Benen!
[Read the article: McCain seems awfully happy with Tuesday's results]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What campaign have you been watching?
But after 16 months of campaigning, does anyone seriously question the "resilience" of either Democratic candidate? Aren't Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, after 16 months of campaigning, "tough" enough?
Well, yeah, alot of us have questions about Obama being "tough" enough. Obama had no scrutiny the first 15 months, and his worst debate performance was the ABC crap-a-thon last week, so we should expect a whole lot more crap over the next six months! Not encouraging his response so far, in yoda-speak
Indeed, if the underlying premise of Seib's argument is true, why aren't there more questions about John McCain's "toughness and resilience"? After all, he won the Republican nomination over a month ago, and barely had to break a sweat doing so.
Huh? McCain was nearly at death's door in NH; broke, sleepin in cheap motels with no staff, the MSM saying he was done, etc. And Romney spent millions on negative ads on McCain; alot rougher ads than Clinton has done on Obama. And that whole "5yrs-in-Hanoi-Hilton" kinda answers a toughness question, don't ya' think?!
This general election isn't going to be easy, folks! If we just believe sweet-little blogging like this, we're gonna get our clock-cleaned again in Nov.
IMHO.

Politics is a Circle . . .
[Read the article: Clyburn hits Clintons on tactics]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]because the far-left and the far-right both have an irrational hatred of the Clintons. From the 1992 to today.
The Republicans drove the mainstream moderates out of their party years ago.
Now the MoveOn-DailyKos-HuffPost libs are trying to drive the moderates out of the Dem party.
Clinton-haters on the left and right who keep saying "her career is over", or "she's unelectable" choose to ignore that she's got millions of voters and supporters. Hard to ignore that half of the Democrats support her, yet they do.
Actually, she's gotten the majority of Dem votes in the primaries, because Obama's primary victories are mostly in "open" primaries, which people not affiliated with the Dem party can vote. We're literally letting people who aren't Democrats choose our nominee. Stupid us.
Now, I think Obama is gonna get the nomination on June 3rd. I also think he's gonna lose 49 states in November. A candidate who loses the majority of whites, the majority of Hispanics, and the majority of asians is gonna lose CA, NY, and NJ. Especially since McCain is a moderate who wants to give the illegals amnesty.
The country doesn't elect effete, liberal, intellectuals who dsn't understand working-class people President of the United States. Obama's another McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, or Kerry. And the libs love him because of it.
But there are millions of us Reagan Democrats who will become McCain Democrats in November.
So, when Obama get wiped-out in Nov, expect all us Clinton supporters to say "I told you so", and to start donating to her 2012 campaign fund, to drag the party back to the center again.
IMHO.

Politics is a Circle . . . (rev1)
[Read the article: Clyburn hits Clintons on tactics]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Apologize for the typos:
"the 1992" = "the 1992 election"
"dsn't" = "don't"
Gotta proof-read better . . .

Let's All Us Dems Hold Hands . . .
[Read the article: Former DNC head switches allegiance]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]as we jump off the cliff and commite suicide together.
I think most delagates see Obama a being unelectable in November, but they do want all those kids (and their $100 contributions) to stay with the party.
So they don't mind forfeiting the General Election to McCain. McCain has been pretty moderate on lots of issues, so they won't mind working with him as President.
And once Obama gets wiped-out in McGovern/Mondale/Dukakis/NedLamont fashion, the adults can take back control of the party.
IMHO.

Do liberals understand . . .
[Read the article: A paltry $11 billion profit for Exxon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the difference between "revenue" and "profit"?

When this "Black Liberation Theology" gets out into the MSM . . .
[Read the article: Wright's theology not "new or radical"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and people come to learn that this is what Obama's been listening to in church for the last 20 years, he's gonna start losing 100% of the non-black vote.

Transportation costs affect the entire economy
[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So the argument that the average person would save only $30 over the summer is simply wrong.
One reason food prices are escalating are the transportation costs of moving products from field-to-store are greater.
But if you're an Obamabot, you probably don't care about saving a few cents on your arugula-and-wheatgrass salads.
And you're all probably driving Prius's, anyway.
You pukes really are out of touch, ya' know that?

With Obama consistently losing . . .
[Read the article: McCain's California dreams don't rest on marriage ruling]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the majority of whites, the majority of hispanics, and the majority of asians, CA could easily be in play in November.
Especially since the GOP has nominated a moderate who wants to give amnesty to illegals. That's gonna play well in hispanic areas.
