Lameont,one more wuss
[Read the article: Lamont: "This is not Fox News, Sir"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]why does no one stand up when someone like JL says how good it is we took Saddam out to say the truth-we had no business taking Saddam out,we should have put all our power to getting OBL?the man who was behind the murder of our people?why does no one stand up when we hear about how much better off the people in Iraq are because we took out Saddam when the truth is they have almost no electricity, dozens are massacared every day,and thier "nation" is falling apart?this lame guy Lamont had every chance to stand up and say truth, but he never did-even as JL lied and said how muich better things are in Iraq.
the issue is simple-anyone who ignored getting OBL by diverting our power into Iraq has made a mistake so big they should never be allowed near the halls of power again.JL is one of those, and Lamont had a chance to stand up and say it,but he never did.he was a huge dissapointment to me,even as JL needs to be taken out of power-as do all others who did not stand up and do the right thing when the time came.the man behind the carnage of 9/11 runs free, yet no-one cares.but hey,we got a 3rd rate dictator out of power, and killed lots of innocent people!that has to count for something.the truth is simple-we are LESS safe because we took out Saddam with no real plan, not more safe.the middle east is closer than ever to imploding.
why didn't Lamont just stand up to JL with the truth that is on his side?

too stupid
[Read the article: Does Joss Stone sound too black?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]can't we ever get past this kind of crap?when i play guitar should i avoid my influences of Robert Johnson and Jimi Hendrix?make sure i don't use the timing of Charlie Parker or Billie Holiday?like her or not,the girl sings the way she sings,we hear what we like and out it comes.this kind of column shows we are nothing but a permanant state of grade school.until we can just let folks be who they are,and realize we are all influenced by art and music from all over the world now,we will just be in the same old rut.how about if we just grow up and get over it?it's not like if you hear something, you don't hear the roots of where it came from.but i guess some folks with empty ideas and shallow minds have to find something to write about...maybe we can have some more columns about Obama being too white...just stupid...

oh,to have the "real" Bill back
[Read the article: Say it loud: I'm elite and proud!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]God, reading this makes me wish Bill Hicks were still alive. I love Maher and most all of what he says, but no one got insanely livid at a Bush (sr.) like Hicks.
I would pay real $$$ for Hicks to come back to earth for just 10 minutes to deliver a piece on Junior.
Although I expect Hicks' head would explode the minute he heard about Bush II.
-- kalyarn
i often think of how insane Bill Hicks would be with the whole idea of a 2nd bush(the thought of his head exploding has crossed my mind).he's the guy we needed these last years to be telling the truth in a way that makes us laugh........

few really get it
[Read the article: A crude way to do businesss]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the real point is two-folkd.
first, the hedge funds are marking to model, not marking to market.so they buy junk paper, and value it at par(1.00).they are doing this with stuff that never trades.but is that it's true worth?of course not.so they send out a statement that is marked to model, but when they get redemptions and have to sell, and now have a mark to market price quote, that thing they said is worth 1.00 is now shown to be worth .20!they are beyond wiped out with all the leverage they use.
the other problem is that many try to say subprime debt is contained because it is such a small part of the market, but that slime is spread all around through CDO's(colaterized debt obligations),where they package bad debt with good so they can sell the stuff, and that spreads it thoughout the debt markets(and was behind what happened at thhe Frech bank last week).
until the reality of mark to model gets marked to market, and the amount of subprime debt slimed throug the system by CDO's is exposed,we will have no clue where we are in all this...

Stein
[Read the article: The great chain of Home Depot unbeing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]now there's a fools fool.i still remember when i used to try to watch the 2 hours on saturday of "financial news" on fox(i had to just give up,besides being clueless, the first segment of every show was about how the dems would destroy the economy and the nation.a combo of political and financial propaganda, just unwatchable and worthless)and someone was talking about gold.it was trading at around $470-$480,and the guy said it would go over $500.Stein yelled out "it will NEVER go over $500!!"and acted like a little kid stamping his feet and throwing a fit...of course just days later it went over $500,and never looked back.what a buffoon...
