an overlooked issue
[Read the article: Rubber match]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Andrew Leonard's excellent article on the issue of specialty condoms (pleasure plus, inspiral and twisted pleasure) makes reference to two studies showing that men in Jamaica and in Africa seemed less interested in these specialty condoms, designed to stimulate the glans penis.
I suggest that a significant factor in the lack of popularity of these condoms is related directly to the fact that these condoms are aimed at providing stimuation for circumcised men. Those men who are intact, i.e. who still have foreskins, may be less inclined to use these condoms. It is movement of the foreskin over the glans penis (common for intact men during intercourse) that provides significant stimulation. In essence, the original Pleasure Plus condom was attempting to provide the type of stimuation that most American men lack because they were deprived of their foreskins as infants.

Please hold the Catholic bashing
[Read the article: A Catholic court?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Folks,
Let's watch the Catholic bashing as we gear up for the fight to Keep Alito off the Court.
As a pro-choice Catholic myself, I know that the majority of Catholics (like the majority of Americans) are pro-choice. This is not about to become a "Catholic" court. These men do not represent the views of most Catholics in the US.

Spermicides not a good idea anymore
[Read the article: The objects of our affection]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]According to the folks at sexetc.org, people should NOT use spermicides any more since most women find it
irritates the mucus membrane inside the vagina and facilitates the
transmission of STDs.

No.
[Read the article: Are you ready for "United 93"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I can't watch this. I have read everything I could read about that day, from the NYT profiles of the dead to the 9/11 Commission Report -but to see that day re-enacted as a big screen film, I can't deal. I am brought to tears just watching this trailer on my computer screen, I sure as hell don't want it sprung on me during previews of something like "Inside Man".
And it's not just the pain of loss from that day, it's the pain of what the world has become since then.

No surprises
[Read the article: The passion of Jim McGreevey]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anyone who ever met Jim McGreevey on the campaign trail (and since he was a relentless campaigner, that's a lot of folks) knew he had a huge ego and pursued higher office relentlessly. In some ways, it was his sheer will that got him the democratic nomination twice in our state (unlike what it usually takes in our country these days, millions of dollars).
I do take issue with the author's distain for his once-home state, referring to it as the most corrupt. Many New Jerseyans are party to the loathing that is heaped upon our state. Currently, our Democratic Senate candidate is being 'swift-boated' with accusations of corruption but his blue-blooded opponent. Enough, of this, please.

the gender factor
[Read the article: Hillary, Iraq and the nonadmission admission]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here is the bottom line:
the campaign is concerned with issues related to gender and perception. What might be OK for a male politician to admit may not be for a woman, that's why Hillary is such a hawk in the first place.

Vegas Gondoliers
[Read the article: Stirring up the waters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Actually, Vegas already has female gondolieri, but much to the disappointment of a couple of unsavory guys I know, they are NOT topless.

VM RIP. Smart TV on the CW? aborted in the second trimester.
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Any way to save Veronica Mars? I am really disappointed this network could not have ANY commitment to a show that was loved by critics and had long term potential. PLEASE, no more reality crud.
I am a Neilsen household, and I watched VM on the HD channel of the CW. Could this have hurt the ratings? I heard they don't count the HD watchers.

The CW was the kiss of death
[Read the article: Finale wrap-up: "Veronica Mars"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I really think that had Veronica Mars been on another network, it would have survived. Here we had a quality show, with critical acclaim, but its audience had a lot of trouble finding it. The 'mash-up' of a network is flailing, trying to figure out what it is and how it can make money. A more established network would have giving the show some more time, embracing the prestige of a critical favorite being on it's airwaves, and it would have done more to promote it. The network did an amazing amount of meddling too, which is why season three is considered by the critics to be the weakest of the bunch.
Folks, this is how we get some of the crappy cars on our roads today, corporations just trying to see what sticks for a quick profit, with no long term eye. Reality TV is cheap, and sadly it gets ratings. Don't blame me, I have a people meter on my set, and I don't watch that stuff. I never missed VM, though, starting midway through season 2 when I read about it. I guess that wasn't enough.

What happend to Ms. Paglia?
[Read the article: Don't run, Al. Don't!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Seriously, I ignored the early critics of these columns as rants from haters, but now I see for myself . . . can Ms. Paglia still consider herself a feminist? Where does all this hate come from? I think we on the left need to stop paying attention to people like this (she is on her way to becoming Christopher Hutchens[sp?])!)
Can you imagine how the world would change if we elected a woman president? Yet, here she is foaming with hatred for Hillary. Al gore has done so much to advance the issue of global warming, but here she is, not only insisting he ought not run for president, but accusing Gore of HARMING the environmental movement?!?!? Yeah, becasue it was going so well before his book and movie. Did Exxon and Halliburton send flowers, gifts or cash in thanks?
"Basta", enough, as my grandmother would say.

Don't forget the software
[Read the article: Once and for all, proof that Macs are cheaper than PCs]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Another big savings feature: all the software, like iLife that comes with the mac. If had to invest in software to edit digital video, record music, etc for my PC, that adds serious dollars. In fact, rather that do that, I added a Mac Mini to my desk at work so I could do some multimedia.
