Creationist museum
[Read the article: Inside the Creation Museum]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thinking about Ken Ham's "museum" is enough to ask "on which day did God create Ken Ham, and couldn't He have rested on that day too?", to paraphrase Spinal Tap.

Origins of homosexuality
[Read the article: Hillary's slick willies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Camille claims the explanation for homosexuality is not biology but adaptation. Good luck trying to prove that. Camille makes a lousy scientist. How is it that a set of circumstances that can steer a person toward homosexuality can also steer another toward heterosexuality, if not for genetic differences? This is not to say that one is born gay, but rather with a greater potential to become so. Excuse the tautology, but I believe the genetic imperative trumps nurture, or adaption if you prefer.
It's just like intelligence - you're either born with it or you're not. And this is very easy to prove. Genes are king - they
are the crytalization of millions of years of evolution, the concentration of earth's history into a chemical code. They explain us, almost completely, if we look into them hard enough.
Everything else is sophistry, psychobabble and, worse of all, the
pathology of religion.

Karl, you waste of time and space
[Read the article: Can't Darwin and God get along?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]KG accepts there's a God, there's evolution, but can't really connect the two. And he can't, since evolution is provable but God is not.
It's simple, so why ramble on about the possibility of reconciling the two?
People like KG want their cake and eat it too. Well you can't, since you haven't proved anything.

Greenwald is right, sort of.
[Read the article: Let's give "Blue Dogs" the boot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To those who criticize Greenwald for seemingly putting ideology over policy, I say if you don't fix the party's ideology (i.e. boot out the blue dogs), then you will NEVER achieve good policy.
I come from Australia where the concept that sections of one party might think and act like their rivals is unheard of. The same is largely true in Europe. It's called opposition. If the US had any real opposition Emperors Bush and Cheney would be indited for crimes even Nixon wouldn't have contemplated.
Unfortunately the Democratic party is not just a kennel-full of blue dogs (and bitches), but cowards like Nancy Pelosi who have the power to pursue and destroy the men who have defiled the Constitution. Democrats acting like Republicans? I mean WTF? What does it take to impeach this scum, the worst "administration" in memory?
Are Democrats so afraid of a fight that they are willing to let Bush/Cheney rule like royalists? Undoubtedly.
If Obama should lose - and most people on this blue marble are hoping not - then the American Tragedy will be complete. And gutless Democrats can lay claim to co-authorship.

PUMA futility
[Read the article: Angry PUMAs on the prowl in Denver]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Speaking as an Aussie with a deep interest in US politics, I say to PUMA: get over it. I know you love Hillary - I don't know how that's possible - but the die is cast. Don't ruin the party and therefore the country, and thereby the world. Because US democracy cannot take 4 more years of GOP gangsters and corporate
thieves.
And to those "democrats" who would rather vote for the intellectually senile MaCain than a virile democratic
candidate who happens to be half black: for shame!

Cream team
[Read the article: McCain's Palin pick is the epitome of tokenism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If the Dems don't beat this pair then there's no hope for the Democratic party, the US or the world. No exaggeration.

War record nausea
[Read the article: No home run for McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even though McCain is no chicken shit like the rest of the GOP cowards who assiduously avoided the draft, it's time he gave it up on the constant war-record rhetoric. It's like he's reliving it so often you just know he has nothing else of substance to say.
I can't wait to see him eviscerated by Obama in the debates - he's gonna wish he was still at the Hanoi Hilton. Or, he'll play the pity card. I'm sure the GOP stooges at Faux News will call it a victory for McCain whatever the result.

Camille, do you even think as you write?
[Read the article: Fresh blood for the vampire]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Paglia has an odd way of helping Obama - by lauding Palin!
As for the abortion issue, which seemingly has reached an intellectual impasse for pro-choicers like Paglia, I have this to offer: your intellect is seriously deficient if the only way to combat the pro-lifers ethical "arsenal" is to admit that abortion is murder, and continue the argument from there.
Firstly, since you believe in the death penalty then by simple syllogism should we execute thousands of abortionists and hundreds of thousands of women every year?
Secondly - newsflash - abortion is merely a medical procedure. People in Europe, Australia (where I'm from) and other semi-civilized nations largely understand abortion as such. No angst, no bullshit, except for a few religious goons.
When will you learn already that you CANNOT debate with the plethora of fascistic, religious nuts the "issue" of abortion: destroy it as an issue! Don't stoop to these fascists by admitting abortion is murder, because you will destroy your own cause and achieve nothing in the fights ahead! Am I the only one who can see this?? Are most of you yanks demented??
For fuck's sake!

From "hero" to zero
[Read the article: Friday's debate: A bizarre game of chicken]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is it not plain that McCain is shit-scared of facing Obama? In a debate McCain will show his guts, literally, after Obama eviscerates him.
If he thinks that it's necessary to delay the debates because of more pressing issues (you can't do both??) then he is deluding only himself, although I suspect his decision had less to do with him than his GOP manipulators and dirty tricksters.
By suspending the campaign out of shear cowardice McCain has essentially surrendered. McCain, POW.
And as Palin becomes increasingly toxic, McCain can't rely on reflected "glory" and is left with nothing but his own sordid and corrupt past, such as his role in the S&L scandals, and his constant lies. This is the GOP's ultimate tactic. Tell lies and more lies and then keep lying.
