Ties In To The Earlier Snippet About Housework

And why men who help out around the house get more sex. Rested, unstressed people have the time and inclination for extracurricular activities.

Yes, Doppelganger

Anyone, woman or man, taking a child for this particular "spa service" should be arrested immediately for child abuse.

My Clueless Parents

They told me I could ask them anything about any topic when I was about 11 or 12 and left it at that. Then when I was 24 and living on my own, dating someone for the first time, my mom asked me, sotto voce while washing dishes after Thanksgiving dinner, if I "knew about birth control"! HA! I told her I didn't hear what she said over the sound of the running water and that's been that. 10 years later, I am living with my boyfriend and I think my mom really, really thinks that because we have a 2 bedroom apartment, we have separate bedrooms and he's really my "roommate". LOL! Parents...what a great source of humor!

Nat Nabob, Get Ready!

I am a 34 year old and I am *very* famililar with laundry starch. While I doubt my mother still uses it, up until I left home at 18, I still remember her sprinkling it on clothing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smell. Although it's unlikely that I would find it appetizing....

NeilPaul

NeilPaul brings up an excellent point about procreation. Sex is *supposed* to be for procreation. Only in the last few minutes, so to speak, of our evolutionary history have humans a)had long life spans and b)had sex for fun. We're on new territory here, living long past our reproductive purpose on earth. Add to those 2 factors the demands of *modern* life - 24-7 connectivity, long commutes, financial demands of children, and it's a wonder that anyone other than high school and college students are doing it!

Anecdotally, I am a 34 year old woman who has absolutely zero libido and a very very strong desire to NOT procreate. I've often thought the 2 were linked. Now that would be an interesting study!

I'm for a name change!

I hate my last name. It's ethnic and unpronounceable. It took me years to learn how to spell it. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of getting married, not for the dress, the reception, or the honeymoon, but for the NAME CHANGE!!! My current BF's last name would go perfectly with my first name.... Hmmmm....

Essure is Great in Theory

But try convincing a medical professional to give you one at any age if you've never had a kid! Apparently, doctors know more about a woman's wants and desires in the fertility arena than a woman does. Silly women! Changing their minds and such!

Homemade

It's the BEST - to the poster who can't get it thick enough, try stirring in some powdered milk as you're heating the milk. Also, I use a yogurt maker... by Donvier - it cost something like $20 and has 8 8oz cups. It's seriously brainless... just plug it in for 10 hours and you're saying hello to the thickest, creamiest, tangiest yogurt ever!

More on the Destination Wedding

I've been to 3, and in all cases, the bride and groom have specifically stated that the guests' presence at the event was the only gift to be brought. Also, I think in all cases, they had a destination wedding to cut down on the number of attendees. One wedding was at a very luxurious resort and the bride found an much less expensive all-inclusive resort very close by as an alternative.

I was married 12 years ago, right out of college, and I would have eloped had it not been for the wrath of my family! That said, we married in my parents' backyard, my mother and MIL made my dress and cooked all the food. It was a fun day, and being so young, hubby and I really needed the gifts to get us started!

With Freedom Comes Responsibility

It's great that most countries "allow" people to choose how many kids to have (versus China's one child policy that some would deem draconian, but I happen to think is a good idea. But I digress.). I'm not going to go down the "patriarchy" route here.

If we don't start exercising good judgement when it comes to our reproductive choices, we will end up not being able to make those choices ourselves. By choices, I mean exercising restraint in 1st world countries and offering better education and access to birth control and abortion in developing countries.

I liken this situation to a "casual Friday" situation at a company where I once worked. People were specifically told not to wear sneakers, track suits, shirts with messages on them, etc. What did people do? They wore whatever they felt like and casual Fridays were taken away.

Attractive People.....

.....Tend to be attractive at any weight, whereas ugly people are stuck with it at any weight. I can say this because I am not particularly attractive, yet I am very thin. My thinness does nothing for my hideous-ity.

Also, there is a HUGE genetic component to weight. I am in my late 30's and while I have been a regular exerciser my whole life, I definitely get results from my workouts whereas other people I see in the gym work much harder with minimal results. Just sayin'.....

Regardless of the Rape Issue

I think we in the west could benefit from a little more modesty. Just sayin'.....
