Just so I understand this correctly. You go apoplectic when Bush says anything on a subject and then when he says nothing on a subject you go equally apoplectic. Do you have any idea how absurd that is?
It is VERY big of you to be "prepared to concede" that the economy is not in crisis. How that must hurt. It is almost as if you'd prefer to see the economy tank so you could blame it on Bush. Oh wait....that is what you'd prefer. How sad
Do you think perhaps that the Democrats aren't fighting this tooth and nail because they deep down are thinking that they will have the presidency come Jan 2009 and they are thinking maybe, just maybe, that this warrantless eavesdropping might not be such terrible thing?
To wit: do you honestly think that if a Democrat is elected President he/she will immediately give up said powers that have been collected by this administration?
I don't think from here on out ANY President, Republican or Democrat, will be giving up the warrentless eavesdropping anytime soon and here's why: In my honest opinion (and I think polls have proven this out)I believe the majority of Americans see a trade off between warrentless wiretaps and their perceived safety.
So what President in his/her right mind would do away with something that increases their power AND the majority of people perceives as something that keeps them safer?
I just don't think it would happen.
OMG!!!!
Politics is dysfunctional and dirty?!?!?!?!?
CEO's are generally egomaniacs?!?!?!?!?!?
Please Sidney, I'm waiting with baited breath.....is water wet?!?!?!?!?
Get your facts straight and stick to something you actually know. People tip at country clubs.
I have to disagree with your observations. Boston isn't even in the top 10 of metropolitan markets. It definitely has something to do with fan loyalty.

"Why isn't Kurtz "sure what to make of it," and why doesn't he do some work and find out?" - GG
Why is it incumbent on Kurtz "to do some work and find out"? All he did was field a question in some chat session. It seems to me its incumbent on GG "to do some work and find out" as he was the one who published the email and wrote the story.
At the end of the day it seems to be as simple as GG either saying Boylan is a liar or admitting the he (GG) was duped.
"Because Kurtz claims to be a proper journalist, and having deigned to comment on the issue should be prepared to do the legwork and verify the claims made on both sides." - spaceghoti
All Kurtz did was reply to someone in a chat session. In reading what GG has in his story he opined about nothing and basically said he's not sure what to think of it.
Again in my opinion that does not make him responsible for doing the work to ascertain the facts of the situation. That fully falls on the shoulders of GG.
I think something that could happen with A-Rod that people are overlooking is some kind of equity deal with a team ala Mario Lemieux and Pittsburgh.
It makes sense for a couple of reasons. The biggest being that he wants a 10 year deal. Well at 33 now, the last 3 to 4 years of that 10 years he's probably not going to be the player he is currently but what he will bring to a team is notoriety in the fact that he'll be blowing way past Bonds in the HR category and quite possibly pass Rose for the most hits. This will bring whatever team has A-Rod a whole lot of publicity, ticket sales, merchandise sales, TV revenue etc. So much so that it might be more lucrative for A-Rod to be a part owner than just getting the cash for playing. Lastly doing an equity deal could increase the amount of teams that could bid on A-Rod. Seattle comes to mind.
That being said I think he'll end with the Cubs with an equity deal to keep down his salary. The Cubs are looking for new owners anyway.
I've read where the equity deal could get done using some type of deferred compensation deal that complies with league regulations.
Believe me, put some high paid Wall St attorney type on it and they'll find a way to get it done.
Since you are using The Telegraph to reinforce your point that Petraeus is a shill for conservatives as he is on their most influential list, do you take back everything you said about Michael O'Hanlon being a shill for the neocons as he is on the most influential liberal list? Or do you just cherry pick certain items from articles that fit your world view?
Hey Tone in DC,
Not that you would know but "Confederacy of Dunces" was the Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction in 1981. But per usual anything and everything Bush does is fully ridiculed by persons of your ilk which makes any other comments or thoughts of yours totally worthless. My guess is that if "Confederacy of Dunces" was the only book Bush has ever read its probably one more than you, you dumbass.
