Thanks for copying Amity's post and noting that it is worth repeating. Indeed, it surely is.

When I read Brad's post telling Amity to shut up I guess I reacted and wrote a post defending her without reading what he was criticizing.

Now that I've read it three times I realize that this is one her best and that's saying one hell of a lot. It's the way I feel but could never put into words the way she can.

How anyone can argue with the following description of our legal system is beyond my comprehension.

"inevitable conclusion that the law exists for those who are a threat to our existing social order, and no one else."

Re Amity: "What's so great about it?"

I am writing this, thinking it isn't a very intelligent thing to do. Defending or evaluating someone's writing is very subjective. After all, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I'll give it a shot.

I enjoy Glenn Greenwald's writing and think I share what he wants to achieve. Every day he seems to write a post about something I feel outraged by, but can't find any other place in the media where the topic is rationally discussed. He details his positions and seems to consistently apply syllogistic logic. He's honest. He makes sense to me.

Then I enjoy reading, mostly skimming, the posts and obviously look for posters I find interesting and who I personally feel, provide some different kind of perspective from which I can learn something. Something that causes me to rethink and possibly change my current thought process.

Some of the posters posit the same points day-in-and-day-out and have the same arguments with the same people every day. I try to ignore those posts. But I'm not always successful. Sometimes I even read Camile Paglia to see if I can survive that ghastly experience.

What happens when I read a post from Amity is that I enjoy the composition of every sentence and try to figure out if its satire or serious. Every sentence is worth a re-read because sometimes the second time around I get something different out of it. That doesn't happen very often to me even with the main stream journalists. I enjoy words and so does Amity.

I know this will sound preposterous but after I read a post of hers, I have the same feeling I get after reading something by a very gifted writer. Which in my estimation, she is!

Bernie, Glenn's foil!

Bernie's comments are never, that I have observed, directly critical of anyone, except for Glenn.

They are general in nature and just go against what many posters on this thread think is right. Therefore their reaction is to declare her massively obtuse.

But is seems to me she is very consistent is creating these statements, on-topic, that are egregiously annoying to the people here. She never backs down nor does she ever stand corrected. At least when I am scanning the comments and reading her posts.

The more people criticize her typing and grammar the more she denigrates the worth of typing and grammar, and then indicates that her very worthwhile content is being ignored. But in reality it only takes a few seconds to read what you have written to see if makes sense and to check the spelling and grammar. Unless you add mistakes to get a reaction!

Never, that I can recall has she ever admitted a mistake. Or if she indicated she made a mistake, like a typo, it isn't important.

I enjoy reading her and Myrna and the frustrated reactions to their posts.

Continuing O/T...

I am not sure what the answer is and don't pretend to know. But today I observed 2 boys about 12-14 years of age riding ATM vehicles through a residential neighborhood, loaded with tots playing in the streets. The speed limit is 25 mph. They were in excess of the speed limit. It is a common occurrence. A catastrophe waiting to happen. No license plates, It seems to me their parents are responsible. What happens if their ATM vehicle hits a toddler?

I suspect their parents think they are in the woodlands.

I have never understood the attacks that are made on you. In fact, I find them deplorable. Your posts are informative, interesting and worth reading. I share your frustration and congratulate you for holding off for so long before making an issue of it. I am glad you did make an issue of it instead of just ignoring it and going to another site.

This whole area of blogging and commenting has a long way to go before there are enough rules to make it a little "fair."

I am profoundly cynical and therefore understand that there are people "out there" who are not very nice. What motivates them is beyond my comprehension.

Anyways, hang is there! I appreciate your comments and your considered points of view.
