@Rocky

Congrats on being the CEO of a megachurch. I heard 50% of your income goes to pay employees' salaries. Good job spreading so much of God's love throughout the world. I read a few of your linked passages. I used the NIV, which I'm sure is one of Satan's translations, but I didn't happen to have a 1611 KJV on me. Sorry about that. Here's my impression of a few of them:

Gen 1:27-28: God created male and female and told them to "be fruitful and multiply." Of course, we've now reached the point where all of the earth is inhabited and millions of people are starving to death, but keep pumping out those babies or you are sinning, right?

2:18-24: "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." Ah, the creation of Eve. Not Steve, I notice. You have a bumper sticker to that effect, I bet.

13:13: "The men of Lot were wicked." Hey, you skipped the flood! Why did you do that? Oh, maybe because the Bible says NOTHING about homosexuality whatsoever in reference to the Flood. But of course you say GOD (YHWH, I assume you mean; did you wash your hands before and after typing that?) showed his anger against homosexuality by allowing the flood. Way to read the Bible.

I also read Genesis 19. Here's my question: If teh gays were the bad guy in this situation, was it a good idea for Lot to offer his daughters up to be raped? I mean, all that would have resulted would have been nonconsensual hetero sex. Or is this maybe an issue of a completely degenerate society that Lot had become part of, which might explain his later incest with his daughters or his wife dying when she turned around? But no, it was all teh Gays. That's the only reason the city was wiped out. Hey, wait a second did Jesus have anything to say about Sodom? Oh here it is, Matthew 11:23-24: "...If the miracles performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you." Wow, so Sodom wasn't even that bad a place, relatively speaking? Amazing.

Ezekiel 16:50, now this is where you REALLY get in troulbe, because you omitted 49. Let's quote that (and this is the LORD speaking): "Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy." Holy crap, Rocky, does that sound like a country you're familiar with? But I thought the sin of Sodom was teh gays!!! But wait, let's go back to the previous verse, where the LORD talks about His chosen people (Israel then, America now, right?): "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done."

I could go on and on. Suffice it to say, Rocky, that you should pay more attention when you read the Word of the Lord, maybe think about the planks in your eye, maybe listen to the Apostle Paul, in Romans 2:21-24: "You, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who brag about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: 'God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.'"

@GorBut

Allow me to demonstrate the flaw:

"The majority of crack cocaine is located in minority communities. It's genocide."

Makes just about as much sense.

The simple fact of the matter is that Planned Parenthood clinics are all over the country, and they're probably in mostly lower-income communities. They probably prevent ten times more unwanted pregnancies than they perform abortions, by providing cheap birth control. This, along with abortion, actually reduces crime (see the book Freakonomics).

And just one more question for the pro-life people, the majority of whom I assume are influenced by their relgious beliefs: If you're so concerned about the plight of the poor, minority or otherwise, what have you done about it? Remember what Jesus said was the difference between the sheep and the goats. They visited prisoners, they fed the hungry, they cared for the sick. If Christians did more of this, the number of abortions performed in this country would certainly be reduced.

A Nation of Cowards & Sadists

Thanking criminals for keeping them safe, like cowed proprieters paying off the local gang. Obviously believe this country has no principles worth preserving, safety and comfort uber alles. In the end times, men will think only of themselves. It's going to be a rough judgment day for the cowards and sadists of God's chosen country, mark my words.

Clearly you don't understand. Google "Federalism." And for the record, SCOTUS refuses to hear thousands of cases every year. In some cases perhaps it is a cop-out, but there's really no way for you to know whether it is in this case. Usually, it has to do with the fact that nine people can't decide several thousands of cases per year, so SCOTUS selects cases where the law is unclear or disputed in order to give direction to lower courts.

@LuLa

I don't think he had anything to gain by being "mean" to her. She was obviously ridiculously nervous (I'm pretty sure she was physically shaking) and, although she wasn't totally "coherent," she at least wasn't trying to sell a load of bullshit. Whether you agree with her or not, she was only talking about what she believes. I don't really remember her arguing against anything, just talking about what she thinks. I'm sure if she had said anything obviously self-contradicting, Colbert would have been on it in a second.
