1. rethugs marriage(s)/affairs/etc become 'fair game' since they endlessly trumpet 'family values'/'character'/etc as THEIR valid -if not ONLY- litmus test for aspirants to public office...

2. it is presumptuous of those who are disappointed with and decry edwards affair, who 'judge' him and/or his wife, and/or the state of their marriage... (or anyone else's)

there is ONE THING ONLY i have learned in my revolutions around old sol: from the outside looking in, you can NEVER 'judge' or even 'know' the formal and informal, spoken and unspoken, fair and unfair choices, compromises, and mutual 'deals' made by partners in their relationship...

NEVER... (oh, we *will* try, and *will* so judge, but chances are we don't know what the fuck we are talking about...)

3. as many astute posters pointed out (and as gee gee ignored), rethugs (and most mainstream pols, as far as that goes) use the destructive war on (some) dee-rugs to both feed the prison-industrial komplex (which their buddies and donors benefit from), and as a major social wedge to paint themselves as sober, ultra-moral, right-thinking superior human beans immune to such weak-willed self-absorption and hedonism that -you know- lib'ruls (*ptui*) can't avoid...

again, RETHUG hypocrisy and weaknesses in this regard, are NOT TO BE FORGIVEN (as far as public/social policy, not personally), but they should be OUTTED and SHAMED ...

NOT for the drug use or other moral 'failure' (sic), BUT FOR THE HEIGHTH OF HYPOCRISY they demonstrate both before their fall, and -most galling- their hypocrisy only doubles in volume after they are caught...

mccain (both) SHOULD BE SHAMED by bringing up salient and valid questions regarding his unlawful influence in quashing what would have put a person of lower socio-economic standing in jail for a long time...

similarly, obama -or ANY pol who supports the war on (some) dee-rugs- SHOULD BE SHAMED IN PUBLIC for their past dee-rug use, progressive bullshit, and then loud, hypocritical, and shamefully craven pandering to the dominant, inhumane, hysterical, and counter-productive oppression of people through this insane war on (some) dee-rugs...

4. similarly, IF a non-rethug candidate had the 'record' of mccain in the miltary, would they be 'allowed' to run for dogcatcher ? ? ? *AND* *THAT* is his so-called 'strength' (his military, 'hero', foreign affairs 'experience') ??? if that dogcatcher candidate was known as mcnasty in a military academy, 'graduated' 5th from the bottom, used family influence to get into flight school, crashed 4-5 planes through incompetence or stupid hotdogging, DIRECTLY caused the death/casualties of 40-50 /100+ shipmates through sheer idiotic, macho stupidity, self-admitted war criminal for bombing civlilians, dodgy POW his story, dodgy personal marriage his story, aforementioned dee-rug stories STILL unresolved in numerous ways, uses his POW/hero story SHAMELESSLY his whole career, WHILE CLAIMING HE WON"T USE IT for self-aggrandizement, blah blah blah...

you're telling me ANY OTHER candidate for even dogcatcher would get a free pass on this kind of stuff ? ? ?

5. it is difficult to get past the simplistic comments of many saloonists who say 'personal life, ain't our bidness...' uh fucking duh, you are looking at it from YOUR perspective, which is fair, tolerant, and respectful of THEIR private, personal issues... (THEY are not similarly tolerant and respectful of YOURS; which is the whole crux of the lib'rul (*ptui*) vs konservative schism...)

however, THEY are both holding THEMSELVES up as pious, respectable, 'normal', ultra-moral, religious paragons who are SUPERIOR to us immoral, godless progressive heathens, *AND* THEY are attempting to USE gummint to enforce THEIR morals and religious strictures UPON US ALL...
