Original article: Tangled up in Seuss

copyright law sucks, and the public doesn't get shit...

1. copyright law sucks, in general: it doesn't do a Whole lot for all the individual artists who you *think* it benefits, but it *DOES* do a WHOLE lot for the corporations who own much of the really profitable copyrights/trademarks...

2. disney -and other korporadoes- have so extended the terms of protection, slanted case law, and planted wrongheaded copyright 'rights' in the public consciousness, that the laws DO NOT provide any benefit to society, but are essentially rigged to the corporations benefit/profit...

3. copyright terms of protection USED TO BE in the realm of 14-17 years, BACK WHEN we got around on horses, we had papyrus teevees, and the inertnets were made of ponies...

NOW -when cultural offerings span the entire planet in nanoseconds, when we churn through pop culture icons in days, when the maw of pop culture is stuffed to overflowing- we have extended the 'rights' to lifetime of the artist plus 70-sumpin years ? ! ? ! ? !

logically, that makes no sense at all, (oh, except to squeeze every last thin dime out of the public)...

4. mickey mouse, the nike swooshtika, ANYTHING creative that is presented to the public, are NOT INHERENTLY valuable; it is OUR buying choices, OUR fandom, OUR interest, OUR MAKING IT POPULAR that gives said copyrights/trademarks ANY VALUE AT ALL ! ! !

(think about this concept, kampers, it is very important in reality, but not so much reflected in the law...)

ultimately, WE -society- 'own' mickey rat and all the rest, WE make it the success it is; but that we are barred from having the general population 'use' what WE made popular for a hundred plus years is not only unfair, unwise, and stultifying to society, but i believe is less profitable to the corporations than if they gave up their quest to beat every last cent out of society for their lame 'creations'...

(of course, the corporation itself didn't create shit, they depended upon the creativity of an artist/wage slave 'working for hire' who doesn't see a dime that results from the marketing of their art...)

information wants to be free (not fee)...

zionistas are unable to react objectively about israel...

1. israel is -by yahweh's imprimatur!- incapable of war krimes, krimes against humanity, or just simple cruelty...

just ask a zionista (or dershowitz) ! ! !

(they're just like unka sammie in that regard...)

2. israel is 'special' 'cause they don't have to admit they have nukes, adhere to any treaties involving same, and just generally get a free pass on that eensy, weensy, teeny, tiny little factoid...

hmmm, wonder why that is...

(but i'm certain it has no bearing on mideast politics and power struggles...)

3. israel gets ZILLIONS of dollars in aid from US (still not quite sure why... hmmm, i'm certain its not -effectively- blackmail...), FAR MORE than any other country, and consistently is THE top aid recipient for decades... (and i thought israel was supposed to be a viable state... hmmm)

not to mention the ZILLIONS that US citizens/zionistas (oops, did i get the order backwards?) donate to the cause...

but give a dime to red crescent, and you're a terrorist symp... go figure...

(that red heifer been sacrificed yet ? ? ?)

4. israel -our bestest buddy!- is THE NUMBER ONE spy on all things amerikan... gee, that seems sorta funny; you mean we give israel zillions of dollars per year (no doubt, an unfair share being funneled to mossad/etc), and they turn around and SPY on us, steal state secrets, and recruit US citizens for their spying purposes ? ? ? hmmm...

(shhhh, don't *even* mention nine one one and suspicious 'art' students... *that's* de facto anti-semitism, don'cha know...)

israel isn't our friend, they are a parasite on our treasury, and a nasty bully whom we coddle and facilitate...

sucreman... (nobody else read)

any red-blooded amerikan schoolboy who keeps tabs on the infernal nexus of reichwing xtians in search of armageddon, and reichwing likkudniks in search of justification for their nazi-like behavior towards palestinians, would know how feverishly fundie uber orthodoxers are working on *that* little piece of magicke to -you know- do the lord's work in retaking the temple mount...

so, you see (as always), god made them do it...

funny how that works out...

hardly news to comment on the strange bedfellows of israeli fundies and amerikan fundies, where the xtians -supposedly- believe that their wholly unholy alliance will bring about the destruction of said jewery...

(sooner than later...)

weird, huh...

well, churchill had the disadvantage of being mostly correct...

...*that* is one of the primary reasons he had to be ostracized and villified, *especially* by faux-pwogwessives...

dog damn ! doesn't ward know that the majority of babbits *don't* want uncomfortable truths spoken...

limbaugh simply pukes uncomfortable falsehoods...

not the same at all, really...
