much adoo doo about nothing...

1. i would give ANY public speaker/pol a pass on having phoenetic spellings for ANY/ALL words/names that might offer 'normal' -or even an individual's own quixotic- pronunciation problems...

2. having said that, i also sympathize with those that argue that a person who's fucking job is to do this shit, can manage to learn the handful of words/names they would need to know for a particular speech...

3. 'gotcha' journalism in general -and this instance in particular- are not necessarily revealing or important (*some* is: stephen colbert absolutely skewered a self-righteous reichwing rethug kongresskritter besotted with 'family values' and xtian 'moral strength', who could not name the 10 commandments he supposedly lived his life by, and which supposedly guided him in his legislative actions; *that* was golden)...

4. what *might* be an interesting exercise in -you know- investigative journalism, would be the many instances of suspicious stumbles, asides, and puckered jacket backs which may very well belie what *should* be an incredibly embarassing subject: that of the boy king being prompted/scripted to say whatever a mystery voice is transmitting to the worst and the dimmest... smoke, fire ? won't find out with this media...

5. as a belated 'attaboy' (attaperson?), The Fool made mucho macho sense in the thread relating to chickenshit dem'rats (not to mention chickenshit saloonists who are so afeared of dirty condemnations like 'pussy'... geezus, it is to larf...)

The Fool is richtig, what a bunch of pussies; *who* IS naomi wolf going to have stand against the rising tide of fascism here ? not most of you chickenshits, wormtongues, and cocooned consumerists, it will be left to the bottom of the food chain (as usual) to take back with blood, what the elites' functionaries could do with a day's strike...

come the revolution, fencesitters will be pushed one way or the other...

close to ZERO of the power elite's wars/etc 'make sense'...

...when you think of them in rational terms, logically dissected, and make even a cursory cost/benefit or threat analysis...

*HOWEVER* the manifold 'police actions', 'bringing democracy', 'fighting drugs', 'fighting terrorism', 'overthrowing dictators', 'establishing peace', 'rolling back communism', and otherwise -you know- saving the world from itself, make PERFECT (if not perverted) 'sense' when you see that *certain* sectors, *certain* cronies, *certain* companies make TRILLIONS of dollars off the resulting 'wars', (and it has the satisfactory side effect of shutting up the stupid, scared sheeple who piss their pelts)...

the eye-rack-eee war doesn't make ANY sense when thought about in terms of a real, credible, serious threats to our pwecious national sekurity; but it makes PERFECT SENSE in terms of PNAC goals, war profiteering, establishing those invisible PERMANENT bases for continuing dominance of the mideast, and otherwise scamming, fleecing, and -literally in the one case, figuratively in the other- destroying both iraq and amerika...

come the revolution, privateers will be invited to a necktie party...

cary sux, many readers make more sense (as per usual)...

jeezus, what a status quo suckup and wimpy moralizer senor tennis consistently demonstrates he is...

1. rocket, deering, rcjacobson, daniel dvorkin, philolgilvie, tom ritchford: ALL great points and telling refutations of the points cary and other posters make in kneejerk genuflection to religionistas... star to uneasyone for the devestatingly unfair quoting of a few of the bible's more extreme passages which should make ANY thinking (*cough*cough*) person pause (at least)...

2. to samiam, by DEFINITION 'evangelicals' seek (or are SUPPOSED to) to convert EVERYONE (you know, out of brotherly love... *snort*), not just go quietly about their worshipping bullshit without bothering other decent people who don't need the fear of a vengeful 'god' in order to be decent people...

3. to markvans, it is NOT 'normal' to tell other people they are going to 'hell' because they don't believe in the EXACT flavor of invisible-cloud-being they do (and -in spite of the protestations of religionistas that this bullshit 'concern' is really motivated out of love, compassion, blah blah blah, much of the time these good samaritans are snarlingly righteous and annoyingly, condescendingly positive they are doing us heathens a favor...)

4. rule of thumb: the louder, more righteous, aggressively cocksure, and uber-moral a religionista is, the greater the likelihood that they are covering up or compensating for huge moral failings and stunning hypocrisies...

5. religionistas of every flavor: shut the fuck up about the joy you've found in ____(fill in the blank with the invisible-cloud-being of your choice), your 'personal relationship' with _____, your 'faith' in weird fables, and your bullshit 'concern' for our souls...

6. the FACT IS atheists/agnostics are -by FAR- going to be accosted by, insulted by, ignored by, proselytized by, hectored by, and -yes- ATTACKED BY xtians and other religionists in our society, than religionists are 'assaulted' by atheists...

in this little corner of amerika, it is THEORETICALLY 'illegal' for high school football games/etc to be opened with a public prayer... in the larger cities, etc, that is probably observed; throughout most of the state, though, there are 'illegally' held prayers/etc over the PA system...

besides being clearly illegal, it is also a rude assault upon all other believers and non-believers alike...

now, do kampers know what would happen to the peron(s) who DARED to complain or voice a principled opposition to this practice ? ? ?

the oh-so-nice, oh-so-respectful, oh-so-christlike xtians would make life a living hell for that person(s) who *dared* to ask that they follow the law and/or simply not shove their religion in other's faces... (oh, and the silent majority of 'good'

xtians, they wouldn't say a fucking thing...)

by their nature and origins, nearly ALL major religions are authoritarian hierarchies...

and that's a bad thing...
