1. the 'anti-sunshine' post (in regards to skin appearances) makes me point out that we are increasingly having kids/people with vitamin d deficiencies... sunlight is GOOD for you, burning is bad...

2. i know of too many kids/young adults who are either 'afraid' of the sun, or are weirdly paranoid, or avoid going outside altogether and use (at least superficially) the 'dangers' of sun exposure to 'justify' their avoidance of the outside/natural world... it is disgraceful, limiting, and distorting their lives...

3. some of them may actually pay lip service to environmentalism, etc; but i think without a literal and figurative grounding in being outdoors a LOT, they will not only miss out on some of the greatest pleasures of living on this planet, but will (and are) becoming increasingly disconnected from nature AND reality in general...

4. how long before they find out the latest and greatest PABA/etc sunblock causes more problems than it solves ?

5. who cares if your skin is like a baby's when you die at 90 ? do 90 year olds *really* get hit on and have hot sex 'cause their skin is so nice ? if you spend your whole life obsessing on sun exposure, avoiding playing outdoors, and going through all kinds of 'protection' and slathering of unknown substances on you for the sake of 'nice' skin when you're 90, that sounds like the ultimate in vain tradeoffs...

yes, there IS a need to criticize the hypocrisy, aggressive moralizing, and totally uncalled for interference in another adult's life and reasonable choices...

the situation really has nothing to do with the parent's (supposed) religiosity, but their nosiness, interference, and general browbeating of their daughter for not being 'moral' enough...

ON TOP OF THAT, the father (at least) is a worldclass hypocrite (which is why i doubt their 'heartfelt' xtian beliefs), and having HIM say one fucking word about the daughter's 'immorality' is one fucking word too many...

further, NO PARENT (or person) who is not specifically asked for advice, moral guidance, or other conversations concerning their adult offspring's 'moral' choices, should keep their stupid, lying mouths shut, and save the gossip for their neighbors or whoever else they bitch to...

the MERE factoid that some parents MIGHT really have serious 'morality' issues based on THEIR religiosity or other beliefs, *SHOULD* inform reasonable people that they have NO BUSINESS projecting, enforcing, or otherwise applying THEIR beliefs on others... (adult OR child)

THE VERY SECOND THEY DO SO, they are authoritarian, fascist assholes who think NOTHING of the autonomy and beliefs of the object of their 'help'...
