Original article: Teachers: Be subversive

to "david sugarman"...

thanks for putting your 'name' on your posts, i will assiduously avoid wasting time on them in the future; and spend more time on the more enlightening 'anonymous' posts you excoriate for childishly moronic 'reasons'...

that is all, you may now return to your regularly scheduled whining... (supercilious jerk)

michael harold = TRUE patriot, thank you...

not a dog damned pantsload-patriot like the likes of nabalzbabel who is a quisling-in-waiting...

"September 11, 2001 did not change everything. July 4, 1776 changed everything. We should never forget that."

ex-FUCKING-actly, THANK YOU for that brilliant, simple, condensed refutation of much of the insane babbling that passes for some kind of profound 'wisdom'...

THANK YOU, i am going to use that line on as many neo (nazi) con (artiste) symps as i run across, THANK YOU ! ! !

Original article: Psst! Have you heard...?

weird 'article'...

not that 'gossip' isn't an issue worth exploring, but not with this chatty catty...

1. agree with many posters who find the writer to be annoying, shallow, and well, a gossip-monger...

2. not ALL overly-chatty people are annoying, but MOST (99.99%) are; in general, the more a person talks, the less valuable their talking is to everyone else...

3. the writer's apparent definition of 'gossip' is so broad as to be meaningless; mere talk about others isn't necessarily 'bad' gossip, its part of life...

4. non-malicious 'gossip' can have a valuable service of society 'debating' and publicizing community morals, social do's and don'ts, etc...

5. numerous kampers suffer from teevee-brain, where constant 'entertainment', zero 'dead-air', and laughtrack-quality 'conversation' has to continue unceasingly, or they are 'bored'...

people don't value (or allow) silence as they should, and are w-a-a-y too uncomfortable with it...

atlantaguy makes the most sense...

1. scolds and stepford spouses who maintain the instant you are married/engaged that you shalt have no lustful thoughts ever about anyone ever again, nor get bored, nor miss the thrill of new attraction, nor have one stray fantasy that doesn't involve your spousal unit, is so much conventional sophistry and weird prudery divorced from reality and biology...

2. many of the reality-based respondents were asking the more salient, difficult questions which explore the unquestioned 'rules' of monogamy and marraige, but fraidy cats can't allow that conversation, either...

("what the fuck is the matter with you, YOU'RE MARRIED; and you can not have a moment's doubt about your lifelong commitment ! ! ! ...and if you do, your marraige is doomed and you are an immature asshole ! ! !")

3. assuming we don't either blow ourselves up, turn the planet into a desert, or enter a fascist/fundie brave new world, there is no doubt in my mind (as has been ongoing) that relationships and marraiges will mutate and evolve to reflect the new realities of economic and sociological choices available...

Original article: Jesus is my dorm advisor

religionists dominate even our 'secular' world...

1. mrfocus -in a nutshell- right on... cultists suspending disbelief are cultists, no matter how many of them there are having 'faith' (ie believing shit you have no reason to believe by your own experience or reasoning) in the same bullshit...

2. thingswesaid demonstrates *exactly* the flawed mindset which pervades xtian/fundie/reichwingers who topologically invert the whole world to make it fit their views and moral prescriptions...

3. OF COURSE anne frank was NOT 'SAVED' and went to hell, according to what we know and can infer and what xtian fundies SAY ALL THE TIME; to deny otherwise is to ignore reality and try and remake xtians as just misunderstood demi-saints who want to 'save' us all... (jews too ?)

(but not in an arrogant presumptuous manner at all... nope)

4. in that vein, tpickett was pointing out exactly this problem (that dona quixotically followed with the wrong apprehension): us rationalists don't give a shit about their 'searching' and 'stumbling', etc (normal existentialist seeking and youthful stupidity); what annoys, angers, and frightens US, is that they ARE TEACHING ACCEPTANCE AND USE of rank hypocrisy, straussian lies (for our 'own good', of course), and political machinations of the sort that would make machiavelli (sp?) blush...

5. i don't believe a tenth of the braying pols and other social leaders who profess -and/or brag- about their 'spirituality'... ANYONE who specifically uses their 'spirituality' or 'religion' as some sort of merit badge, or token of mainstream 'acceptability' is a phony and a con artist... that is your PRIVATE LIFE, it has NO BEARING on your ABILITY to serve in public office... shut the fuck up about it: i don't care whether you are xtian, jew, atheist, muslim, or flying spaghetti monster devotee; do your fucking job in the best interests of society, and worship whoever you want on your own time...

just shut the fuck up about WHICHEVER flying spaghetti monster variant you find peachy keen...

(oh, by the way; the point concerning political leaders demonstrates 100% conclusively that religionists DO HAVE outsized (and outrageous) influence on just WHO can have the temerity to run for office -at nearly ANY LEVEL, NATIONWIDE- in thisy here democrazy: the number of agnostics, atheists and 'non-standard' religionists (wiccans, etc) who even DARE to run for (much less win) public office can be counted on the digits of a triple amputee...

yeah, them thar lib'rul (*ptui*) secular humanists sure do run things in thisy here non-theocracy...

*snort*
