  • Finally, something righties and (some) lefties can agree on!

Both groups are distorting Hillary's remarks - just as both have built up the disagreements between her and Obama. The Republicans perhaps should watch out - they may get what they wished for and live to regret it. On the other hand, some Democrats (including myself) are having to come to terms with the painful reality that Obama is not quite living up to the hype. Of course, there is still time.

But the vitriol against the woman is well beyond reason. Her voting record is not much different than Obama’s and most of the Democrats running for the nomination. And, please, stop it with the "triangulating!" The race is ultimately to be President of the United States - not President of the Democratic Party. (I believe that person is Howard Dean, a man who as governor was very much a centrist with a 100% approval rating from the NRA.) And the real audience here is not Democratic partisans – who you think would be on-board automatically with any Democratic nominee, but apparently not – it is the part of the country that votes Republican. Every time I see a debate, Obama strikes me as obviously playing to the center. You can argue whether this is good or bad – but it’s dishonest to accuse Hillary of being the only one who does it.

The one incontrovertible deficiency Hillary faces is being female. McClatchy had a story Monday in which it quoted two Iowa Democrats:

"Hillary can go to hell. I'll never vote for her. I don't think a woman should be president. I think a man should. They've got more authority." Her husband, Daniel, 50, also a Democrat, agreed: "I think women should stay home instead of being boss."

So, she is up against misogyny across the board.

  • Democrats are wimps

Can you imagine Republicans denouncing one of their own candidates out of fear that the big-bad-Democrats will say nasty things about the candidate? So, Dems want a bold candidate, but not one so bold that they will bring out the right-wingers, eh? By playing into the Hillary/Obama is "unelectable" meme, Democrats are cutting their own throats. Typical. And as for health care, when voters at the time were polled on "Hillary's plan," they were against it. When the actual plan was presented in full - and not billed as Hillary's - they were overwhelmingly for it. It’s all in the marketing.

And isn't it a bit unseemly that Edwards sends his wife - insulated as she is from criticism - to badmouth Hillary? Not that it's Hillary's fault that the right-wing hates her and has vilified and slandered her for decades - after all, they must not have gotten the message that she is a "right-wing, corporate crony." Too bad the Dems are too stupid to recognize the reverse psychology that the Republicans are so good at formulating. If the media and the right seem to be pushing Hillary for the nomination, it certainly couldn't be in hope of eliciting Democratic backlash against her? Could it??

  • Killing her softly???

Considering the number of death threats that Hillary has received throughout her career as Senator and as First Lady, this headline is in really bad taste.
