Do Not Accomodate
[Read the article: Our new friend is a racist -- should we dump him?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You don't have to dump this friend, but do not accomodate his views or acquiesce in any way. Point out how stupid and foolish his views are every time he brings it up. He will either learn very quickly to never express those stupid views around you, or he will be the one to break off the friendship. I try to challenge that sort of racist talk whenever confronted by it, and sometimes it is difficult to do - it is no fun to tell an old person, coworker, friend, etc. that you don't want to hear their racist nonsense, and there have been times that I have just let it go for the sake of not disturbing the peace. However, each time I have done that I feel lousy about my weak self, and wish I'd challenged the racism on the spot.
Everyone who truly believes that views like your friends' are wrong and dangerous should challenge them at every opportunity. If you don't, you are reinforcing those views, and you are part of the problem. Every racist has a story to "justify" their opinions, but it is easy to point out how whatever bullshit story from their past can't possibly lead them to the conclusion that everyone with the same skin color as someone who offended them is just like the offender. Why should a racist get to spew his retarded views but somehow you (we) feel like we should keep our broader, inclusive, egalitarian views quiet in the face of such foolish hate?

Anon on Rodeo
[Read the article: The baby I turned away]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Children are not puppies. Anyone who uses puppies as an example when talking about adoption is an idiot. How many retarded kids have you adopted? Dog breeders kill off puppies that do not conform to breed standards - don't you charge less for your puppies that aren't "show quality" - to get people to take them off your hands? There is nothing similar to parents and children and puppies and buyers.
This judgment and guilt and nonsense about "nurturing a human being" is bullshit. Having children is ultimately a selfish act. Adopting or squeezing out your own, it doesn't matter. No one wants an unhealthy child. No one wants an ugly child. If we could really choose, we'd always choose the healthy, smart, pretty child. That is the part that is "natural", as in natural selection. The natural bond between an adult and their biological child helps overcome this, so we can love and care for our stupid, ugly, sick or otherwise imperfect children. You'd have to work really hard to feel that way about a child that did not come from your own body, and there is nothing to feel badly about in deciding that you don't want to take on the burden of a sick child if you don't have to. Honest article, and you made the right choice.

Why are you married?
[Read the article: Some drunken chick is texting my husband while we're sleeping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]He doesn't think you are crazy, he just knows that acting upset and saying you are crazy makes you shut up about it.
As others have said, you obviously don't trust him, and shouldn't. He is manipulative, and probably cheating on you regularly. He is gone all week, every week. Why are you married? I'm not sure what he gets out of it, but can only assume you married him and chose to stay married to this admitted cheater and jerk for financial security and because you like the outward idea of being married. Forget all that crap - set up a bank account in your name, put lots of his money and all of yours into it for awhile, then close out the account and leave him.
Really, what is the point in being married to eachother in this case?

Eliminator
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Completely copied from "Ninja Warrior", except it's much easier on Gladiotor. Maybe they have the same or shared production company, but none of america's game shows/reality contests are original. they are all copies from successful european or japanese shows.

Danger
[Read the article: My husband and I are fighting bitterly over our failing restaurant]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Stress can lead otherwise good people to do bad things. Restaurants fail ALL THE TIME. It's hard to admit that you (meaning the both of you, and maybe more so your chef husband) aren't good at running a restaurant in your community, but it sounds like you are not good at it. It isn't easy to operate a successful restaurant, as you often have to compromise your vision to do so (give potential customers in your area what they want, not what YOU want).
If Chef Ramsey won't show up and show you guys how to reinvent your place as a success, then you should fold now. Eventually you'll have to fold anyway (why would just doing what you have always been doing suddenly meet with a different result?), and the stress between now and then could cause your husband and even you to do things you can't take back, and possibly get you a big tax debt you can't escape. Tell your husband the restaurant is killing you both, and your relationship, and either it folds and he gets a paying job or you are going and the place will have to close anyway since you are a partner. Be prepared to live with whatever the decision is, but do not be prepared to suffer in a dangerous situation. Life is too short.

Fuckabee
[Read the article: Holy Constitution!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I am thrilled with Fuckabee and the current level of support he is getting - it should be a huge, desperately needed wake up call to everyone: democrats, republicans, independents, and anyone who supports our constitution and science. Let everyone see how dangerous and POSSIBLE theocracy in america is and the effects of "christian" bullying in the political arena has become. Starting with Reagan, then George W., and now the likes of Huckabee are serious candidtaes. It is a slippery slope, and if you don't stand up and fight it, these fundamentalists will run over any rights they can.
