[Read the article: Misadventures in logical reasoning -- and lessons learned from the Spitzer scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We all loathe something. For me, I don't much like it when people talk crap about Arabs. As you can imagine, being an Arab-American for the past 8 years, as I have been, has made being angry about that a full time job. I've learned not to waste time yelling at people--in cyber or meat-space. Not because its wrong. It just doesn't get me anywhere, except fuming and red-faced. Also, I feel that I have a unique position to change people's view if I can get them to listen to me long enough..generally, that means not making them feel like they have to put their defensives up. Not that I would tell someone what to do on their blogging territory, and I'm sure I will get flamed now for "telling people what to do" and "being nosy" (as if telling people to shut up because they're stupid is not telling people what to do). Its just an observation and a suggestion

[Read the article: Misadventures in logical reasoning -- and lessons learned from the Spitzer scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]with 58 pages worth of posts, just about the only thing that hasn't been covered is the morality of sex with high-priced extra-dimensional string-theoried prostitutes.

Great post...

Please don't mention Spitzer
[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...a 1,000 pages of posts debating the oh-so-timely topic of prostitution was quite enough...

Here's another...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Whenever I see polling data like that, my first instinct is not to see a disconnect, its to undermine the value of polling.

[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I wish it was; there were a lot of issues I had wanted to see discussed, fer instance, when such a thing happens, all things being equal and no moral opprobrium accruing, just what does such a governor do? Or, what is the legal status of the transactions made by Spitzer? Was any of it illegal or unethical, or is the definition getting bled on by the prostitution thing? Qui Bono? This doesn't hurt democrats as much as it hurts Clinton..or am I wrong?
But the most of the posting revolved around moral issues on prostitution. Alright at a bar, but better things to talk about on a blog, wot?

Glen and Ondolette are right
[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That makes perfect sense. When you add the numbers, the people who don't want to get out of Iraq are voting for McCain... That'll teach me to read more carefully.

Did you mean "celibate"?

[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Its a bit of a bait and swithc, I suppose. I didn't have time to read the article carefully, but I am left with the vague feeling that I should think that McCain will get support for his stance on the war, at the expense of Clint-Obama, despite the fact that the majority of people want us out as quickly as possible. This is pretty standard type of reporting. I see this a lot in the New York Times, where insiders and sources claim something based loosely (and often speciously) on data, contested in the last paragraph by opposition views.

'nuf said,
[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You are quite good at taking comments out of context. I was very clear in all my posts that the other issues were the ones I would prefer to talk about, and that any person who really wanted to the get to the bottom of the issue should prefer. After 1,000, posts indeed, all focused only on the moral issue, there was nothing left to talk about...'
But please feel free to continue on whatever personal vendetta you've decided to direct at me. So far your opinion hasn't seemed very well informed when it comes to what I've said.

Benefit of the doubt
[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You misunderstood my intentions. I still do want to talk about Spitzer. I'm very curious as to the legality of what's going on. But judging from the 1,000 posts directed only at the topic of the moral relativity of prostitution, that's all people here want to discuss.
At the risk of sounding like its all about me (like anyone who wants to change things) I think it would be a better, saner world, if people who want to bait people did it in person and not on posting sites where serious issues that affect our lives are discussed. When you screw with a stranger in the real world, you have to directly take the repurcussions and it makes us all more honest.

[Read the article: The principled, honest House Republicans]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This issue came up before viz voting for the ammendments but not voting for the bill...my personal feeling was that this was political cowardice, to have a face to show to the progressive crowd, and another to show the less liberal audiences...was there any other viable reason. I can't think of any, but I am curious.
