I hate to self-quote but...

And then there are the wishy-washy anti-abortion folks. People who seem to view babies as the just punishment for being a stupid, immoral slut. But they might quietly accept abortion if the mother was saintly, pure and not "asking for it."

seems to sum up a previous poster here.

Abortions account for a mere 10% of Planned Parenthood's "other services," so "other services" would be an apt descriptor.

And some of us consider providing health services for the poor, STI/STD testing, birth control and pre-natal care all a part of "planning for parenthood." For some people at sometimes in their lives, the best way to plan for parenthood is to plan not to be a parent.

Secret Agent Man

Oh, RichEmery, you're so silly. All of the failed "clandestine" regime changes we know about weren't really clandestine because we know about them! Get it?

All of our many regime change operations were actually successful, thus you don't know anything about them.

So if you want to know about our successes, we could tell you. But then we'd have to kill you.

@Slackie Onassis

Reasonable voter? Yeah, I wonder where he or she is, too...

It's still a tough call who'll get the blame for Congress' failure to get anything done:

1. It's the Republicans' fault. There are still too many of them. We need to elect more Democrats.

2. It's the Democrats' fault. They can't seem to do anything. Let's punish them/vote for change and vote Republican.

3. It's the Republicans' or Democrats' or Congress' fault in general. Screw them all, there's no point. I'll just stay home.

Never underestimate the laziness or simple-mindedness of the average voter. It'll probably be option one or two.

Current count: 34 senate seats are up for re-election in 2008. 22 are Republican.

@Silenced

Medical marijuana is the most important issue in the country today. Vastly out-ranking the war in Iraq, Al Qaeda, the rise of Iran, Social Security, Medicare, the medically uninsured, global warming, the shrinking middle class...

But just because certain issues might take priority doesn't mean other issues aren't worth a thought. Can you direct us to some reputable and informative links about medical marijuana science?

Based on the postings thus far...

Hillary's "Dark Lord" comment just might win her the dork vote.*

*I say this as someone with a great appreciation for dorks.

Bush is a "sorry deal."

Reporter: Do you think there's a risk of a recession? How do you rate that?

Bush: You know, you need to talk to economists. I think I got a B in Econ 101.

Even if our president got a B in Econ 101 in college, I expect him to know enough about introductory econ now to get an A. Also, note the president "doesn't know enough to answer" when it's an issue of the economy being bad but he "knows enough" to be able to say things like "the fundamentals of our nation's economy are strong."

And is it just me, or is the Prez engaging in more douchebaggery than usual?

These people suck.

To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.

It's like "Freedom Fries," but instead of mocking the French, it's mocking the First Amendment.

Sigh. These people suck. "Sense of the Senate" my a$$.

I also threw up a little...

And then I thought about the President's comments to the Press Corps as shown in the previous War Room entry:

Bush: I thought that the ad was disgusting. I felt like the ad was an attack, not only on Gen. Petraeus, but on the U.S. military. And I was disappointed that not more leaders in the Democrat Party spoke out strongly against that kind of ad.

Is this a shrewd Democratic move that will oust the "Petraeus/Betray Us" coverage from the papers?

Although the Democratic Party making a "shrewd move" would be pretty shocking at this point.

Never mind, I take it all back. This is the Democrats trying to be shrewd, once again, by trying to out-Republican the Republicans.

There's a reason we voted the Repubs out of power, you jacka$$es.

re: Make them actually filibuster already!

Amen to that.

Democrats, what are you waiting for??? The public in behind you--the majority wants us out of Iraq, the sooner the better. They voted for you in the mid-terms to make this happen. You've got majorities in the House and Senate. You've got a lame duck Republican president.

Yet you continue to bend over backwards to placate the Republican-defined middle ground. Which, due to your constant capitulations, is now pretty far to the right.

Is this some sort of learned helplessness? Too scared to even try anymore? Get over it! Lives are at stake. The American People are counting on you! Fight!

I guess the Republicans are right--Democrats are the party of surrender. Surrender to the Republican Party.

Equal Opportunity Douchebaggery

The fertility company is completely at fault. By not following their clients' instructions, they have cost them money and potentially the health of the "intended child."

The couple has every right to sue.

That the couple is a lesbian pair who happen to be total douchebags is irrelevant. Shocker: homosexuals are people, too, and can be selfish, bad-parenting a$$holes.

This pair isn't representative of all single women or all lesbians. They are merely representative of "crappy people."
