Where to begin...

So we've reached the point where all sex, in the eyes of women, is now "Sex in the city"?

We've reached the point where women now relate to men in exactly the same ways they've always complained about men relating to them?

We've reached the point where women who have complained about men regarding younger women as nothing more than sex objects have now made the major leap forward? to regard younger men as nothing more than sex objects...

And nobody gives a damn about the person they're having sex with,

Except to go back to the locker room with the boys or get together with the girls and brag about who you just "bagged" or who the latest notch on your bedpost is?

When a person is seeking to find another person with whom they can make a deep emotional and spiritual connection and develop a long term relationship, leading up to and including sexual expression, and they find another person whom they want to spend a great deal of time, if not the rest of their lives with, age is largely irrelevant (as with Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins in real life or Susan Sarandon and James Spader in the movie White Palace).

A succession of one night stands or even short-term relationships, however, only leaves everyone involved feeling increasingly lonely and desperate (and if you haven't discovered this yet, you WILL).

What's being described here by the word "Cougar," has no sensitivity or romance or deep, human caring in it anymore than what's described by the term "Lounge Lizard," when used for older men who cruise bars for younger women.

If all you intend is using your position of age, superior economic status, and power to bed a much-less-well established, much less sophisticated younger persons for your own amusement, you'd be far more honest to do, as so eloquently and repeatedly suggested by sex advice columnist Dan Savage: "pay for it," no matter what the genders involved. At least that way it's honest and everyone knows what the score is...

Because the assumption here clearly seems to be that younger men have no feelings and can be scooped up by cougars for those cougar's own amusement (and that of their cougar friends), then cast aside without a second thought when they cease to be amusing, which is ABSOLUTELY as disgusting when done by women to younger men as when done by men to younger women (or even by same gender folks).

How many of these cougars are really using the way they treat these younger men as some sort of twisted compensation for the ways they think (rightly or wrongly) the men in their lives "done them wrong," allowing these younger men to develop an emotional attachment to them then actually relishing the pain they cause them by casting them aside.

What a sick and sorry world we're creating where "cougars" and "lounge lizards" actually get to celebrate being (at least on an emotional if not a legal basis) sexual predators who prowl and preen and brag for the amusement of each other and celebrate ripping other people's hearts out just for fun.

Original article: Obama embraces the U.N.

Obama's U.N. speech marks a return to sanity in US/International relations

And leaves me hoping that John, diplomatic "bull in a China shop" Bolton is pulling out his mustache in frustration (or I'd be happy to do it for him with a vice grip, if he doesn't have the courage to do it himself).

As for the weasels whining about the school safety chief. Considering their stellar, collective record of drug use and debauchery, I'd say, "Let the one without sin cast the first stone."

Or maybe the rest of us could just build a new "Wall of America" (after the Orson Scott Card's "Wall of India") outside the entrances to each of their studio buildings and wall them up inside to wallow in their continuing psychodramas alone (while breaking their broadcast connections so no one has to watch them come apart).

Illiterate, Illiterate

Is obviously getting paid by the word for his right wing trollery these days, as are some of his friends.

But my waist-high waders keep me dry in the face of the mountains of pig sh_t they're shoveling. The smell is still pretty bad, however.

If they keep this up, they'll put the non-organic fertilizer companies out of business.

And thanks to all of you who take them seriously enough to factually refute them,...but do remember the old adage about wrestling with pigs.

It's the vacuum between the ears

Of the Reb base that is causing this leadership problem (or is that chaos?). There isn't a single person with intelligent, rational, educated, knowledgeable, leadership qualities (all of which are absolutely required to deal with the current economic mess in the U.S.) that the Reb base would accept as a leader. They fear and resent those qualities in others.

All of the people who could step into that role on the Republican side are far too bright to make the attempt at this point. Perhaps after Palin splits the party in 2012, they'll come out of hiding to lead whats left and begin to rebuild.

The defacto leaders of the Rebs, Limbaugh, Becky, et al, are not interested in leading at all. Why should they be? They're making millions off manipulating their devotedly nerotic/sociopathic/pscyhotic followers into continuous anger at exactly the people who are needed on both sides of the aisle if we're going to work our way out of this mess.

If Palin leads the far right nut wing out of the Reb party in 2012, rendering that wing irrelevant to national policy making (except in their own imaginations), it will be a massive favor to the rest of us. Perhaps, at that point, after they get done doing whatever violent things they'll do in response to losing that election (and we should expect violence), the adults of both parties can take charge and we'll actually begin to recover from this mess.
