Those who watch the weasel and those featured on the weasel

Are, quite literally, made for each other, but it's not a match made in heaven... more likely a much warmer place.

They are made for each other because they all share very similar psychological dysfunctions - they all have the same aspects of their personalities missing (those that allow for empathy and compassion and those that would allow them to trust other people in normal ways).

They are made for each other because having those particular pieces missing drives them to view the world in particular ways - ways that don't require them ever to be compassionate or empathetic or trusting of others.

If they were to watch what normal people watch, they might bump up against the need to be and do what they're incapable of because the pieces that would allow it are missing. This would make them angry, or depressed, or both - certainly uncomfortable at the very least. Consequently, although those who watch other sources may stop by the weasel once in awhile, it's quite likely those devoted to the weasel can't bear to watch anything else.

When healthier people try to "educate" the denizens of the weasel in order to awaken their compassion and empathy, they react to those folks with angry mistrust, denial that the truth CAN be true, and deep levels of anger/resentment directed at those in need.

This is a large part of why bipartisanship will not work in this country at this point in time. The admirable effort toward sharing ideas and negotiating solutions, which is working in our diplomatic efforts elsewhere in the world, is not possible in the USA because those with whom we are trying to share ideas and negotiate are NOT psychologically functional. In the worldview by which they're completely imprisoned, negotiation and compromise are signs of weakness and capitulation. Such things are anathema (the best visible example is John Bolton and those who admire him.)

For these folks, cheered on by the dysfunctional folks at weasel news, everything is winner take all, us or them, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead (and for some of them... if I can't have this country the way I need it to be, nobody's going to have it!).

How does one lose these personality pieces? Empathy and compassion are lost when youngsters in need of them receive an angry, punishing response rather than comfort from those they love. The ability to trust is lost when those you love betray you or violate you physically, sexually, or emotionally in some substantial way (friends or family members).

Some lose these things as part of military basic training (because it's very difficult for compassionate, empathetic people to kill others, the military does it's best to shut these things down in their trainees).

I suppose we should feel sorry for these folks because they're sick, but the reality is, they are doing their very best to infect our entire nation with that same miserable sickness. Let's not let them. If we make the world a healthier place instead, at least some of them will be so miserable living in it that they'll seek help and get healthier.

Last comment... The weasel is not the problem

It is a symptom of the problem infecting a substantial minority of our society. If weasel news and Rubaugh were to disappear overnight, something identical would spring up to take their place just as quickly.

If the people growing up in the USA were raised with the appropriate combination of love AND limits and parents gained the ability to correct their children without those children feeling unloved in the process, if parents were always decent to their children and trained their children (and schools, pre-schools and daycare centers required the children in their care) to be decent to each other, it's likely weasel news would sink into the sands of history and those seeing tapes of what used to be would scratch their heads and wonder why anyone would ever have watched such things.

PMH

Sexual attraction for either gender, by either gender is not the result of dysfunctional parenting nor childhood trauma. It's hard wired into your system the way Apple or IBM compatible is hard-wired into the systemboard of a PC.

The need to distance yourself from it by explaining it away with theories that have, long since, been discounted and/or disproven likely is, however. As the old saying goes... "denial" is not just a river in Egypt.

Just becuase abject evil can pretend at banality

Doesn't mean it's not abject evil. As you review your life and see the suffering, pain, and death that you caused, may you weep for what you did and cast yourself into the outer darkness for that certainly appears to be where you and those who agreed with you belong for all eternity.
