The real joke of "teabagging" is that it's the people who have been inspired by the well-paid commentators on Weasel news, the well-healed Republican Conservatives, and that impoverished multi-millionaire Rubaugh, into protesting against tax increases for those who are inspiring the protest, while ignoring that the vast majority of attendees are getting a tax CUT!
In getting you to go to these "tea parties" these overgrown frat boys are rehearsing the same joke they used to love to play on their frat buddies when one or another of them passed out at a frat party. If you have the stomach, you can find pictures.
If you're attending one of these rallies, let me ask you how it feels to have these millionaires whom you're listening to so avidly, treat you as if they got you drunk enough on their bloviating to pass out, then dragged their balls across your face or, if you sleep with your mouth open when drunk, drooped them onto your tongue. No doubt they'll show each other the pictures on Thursday and have a real blast laughing it up at your expense! But will you be smart enough to realize the joke's on you?
that stone being made up of a coalition of literally strange bedfellows that existed during Buschco. When Sarah isn't nominated for 2012, she will start her own party and lead the wrongwing (non)Christian nuts out of the Republican Party, which will force what's left of the few, aging fiscally conservative, socially moderate Republicans to begin to rebuild the party in the directions that will allow it, perhaps by 2020, to be a viable alternative to the Democratic party. If we're lucky, she'll grab Michelle Bachmann as her running mate.
Meanwhile (and sadly) the (non)Christian nuts will become increasingly strident and sometimes violent (having lost the "culture wars") and may come very close to discrediting all forms of Christianity throughout North America, perhaps the world.
Being a decidedly LIBERAL protest Christian (UCC), I can only pray and work to try to ensure that there will be enough of us left to help allow the truly wise, useful, and helpful aspects of Christianity (those actually based on the teachings and ministry of Jesus himself and the presence/guidance of the Spirit - all those things the nuts ignore) to continue to be a factor in American Society.
Dear Norm,
Go to _____, go directly to _____. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Now of course you can substitute the word from the original Monopoly card if you'd like, but there was another form those of us in the upper midwest often used when we were angry or frustrated with our friends - always said a bit tongue in cheek of course, but I suspect both might apply to you AT THE SAME TIME!
In the meantime... Put down that Federal Appeal and back...away...slowly...
WE WANT OUR SECOND SENATOR!
(Oh, and by the way, nice job egging your own door then blaming a "kid on a bicycle." You really got my sympathy with that one!).
But let's do it anyway. There's no reason in the world, especially with current technologies, why power has to come from large centralized power plants, except that a very few people make a great deal of money selling that electricity and, even moreso, providing the fuel that drives those plants.
There's not even any need to endanger desert habitat in the Southwest, nor build powerlines connecting the Southwest to the entire nation. Let's just localize energy production with electric solar panels on appropriate roof spaces, wind turbines in the countryside and, tidal generators near the coastlines coupled with local storage packs at each site made up of updated batteries (now in development).
The electric utilities would continue to be useful to maintain the grid and provide backup power for periods of extremely high energy use.
Of course, those now making the money from supplying electricity will do everything in their power to prevent this from happening.
But let's do it anyway!
Is that the entire banking/investment system has become so opaque that there's actually, by design, no readily-available, accurate information by which people can judge the health of banks and other companies. In such an intentional information vacuum, any information, no matter how insane the source, can have an effect.
As he has demonstrated repeatedly...
that Senator Lieberman's chief allegiance is to Israel (that's not anti-semitic, it's just fact).
The tiny minority among all the children of Abraham (Muslim and Jewish both) who would advocate or perform acts of terror (among them, Mr. Lieberman's close friend Avigdor Lieberman), are, quite properly to be feared and need to be tracked and controled.
But in Mr. Lieberman's view, some of the Islamic children of Abraham are a threat to Israel and therefore, all the Islamic children of Abraham must be controlled by any means necessary including torture.
(The American service members who have been killed in Iraq are, to him, nothing but cannon fodder in his overarching desire to protect Israel - although Iraq had nothing to do with the events of September 11, 2001, Saddam Hussein is known to have been paying compensation to families whose children had become suicide bombers in Israel)
For Mr. Lieberman, Israel must be protected at all costs including torture of any who might be suspected of seeking to harm it. Since there is an infinitesimal chance that somewhere, someone might not be aware of the typical techniques used by those who torture (including US), then releasing the memos that describe what we've done (but will no longer do), might allow those whom we will no longer torture to be better prepared in case we ever do again - something which Mr. Lieberman would certainly support,... you see?
