There's no problem with their attitudes, their approach, or their philosophy (the poor deserve to be screwed because they're poor and therefore, obviously, stupid and lazy, whereas the rich deserve to be rich and get ever richer because their wealth proves them to be intelligent, hard working and the source of all jobs and all ideas)! There's no problem with their theology (God and Jesus as good cop/bad cop routine, with Jesus completely divorced from his own teaching and ministry as described in the Bible).

They've been absolutely right about everything all along! They just need a really hot, perky, cute, and, if necessary, get right down there in the dirt and wrestle with anyone who disagrees - type spokesgirl who will do a better job of pulling the wool over the public's eyes and sell their immoral, dishonest, disreputable program by thickly layering it over with trowel-applied Tammy Faye-style makeup of God, Guns, Apple Pie, and America first, Jingoistic Patriotism. (You know what I mean, the same type of spokesgirl that every major corporation trots out into the media when they want to get away with massive lying because everyone knows women are far more honest than men).

Those old, white, male, front men (like McCain) are just not cutting it anymore, but Sarah will turn the world upside down and make it safe for sexist, bigoted, rich, old, white, men again!

Meanwhile, back in the real world, the fact that Sarah's willing to be a spokesperson for those old, white men, disqualifies her in the mind of the general public for serious consideration for any position of responsible leadership.

The ignorant bullies we all knew from the playgrounds, halls and locker rooms of our own schools (where they boasted about conquests they never accomplished and size they didn't have), all the guys who thought the Hollywood Westerns were accurate history, were turned loose on an unsuspecting nation to steal our collective lunch money and beat up or down anyone who seemed weaker than they were (or to whom they were secretly attracted), all the while proclaiming themselves to be national heroes.

Meanwhile, those in the reality, "fact-based" community were caught flat footed by the blossoming (as in "turd") of the think tanks and right wingnut law schools born in response to LBJ, the "great society" and civil rights legislation, who underwrote the bullies with an endless stream of misinformation through propaganda catch phrases (with Goebles, and the novels of Huxley, and Orwell as their model).

You know the language, "peace through strength," "freedom through work," "better schools by cutting staff and funding," "cutting taxes makes for balanced budgets," "my missle's bigger than your missle," "importing massive amounts of Arab oil leads to greater national security" etc.

The middle of the road leaders and those academics based in facts and verifiable information, took a couple of decades to begin to comprehend that, by buying up the mainstream media and feeding the public a steady diet of propagandistic swill, the right wingnuts could convince the general public that up is down, right is wrong, and the lives given up by our forbears to create a free nation and their constitution were best honored by using that constitution to wipe your back orifice.

It just didn't seem possible that the American public were so ...stupid.

But alas, the public can be extremely stupid, especially when they're taught that public elementary, secondary, college, and technical schools and universities are all staffed with "liberals" who are trying to destroy our nation by challenging interpretations of the Bible held by an extreme minority of Jews and Christians through history - interpretations invented out of whole cloth (not the Bible, itself) just over 100 years ago.

Thus were the actual verifiable facts rendered suspect while the wingnut BS was held up as the only source of "truth."

Eventually the falsehoods in this misinformation became so glaring that the public began to realize they'd been had. But those of us in the "fact based community" need to realize that the public will not fully awaken unless we take back the information sources in this nation. We need to fight to uphold and spread abroad what's true, because the public needs help to see and understand what makes sense, especially after all the BS they've been force fed for the past 20 years.

We have to stop letting these bullies run the nation (the way some of us let them run the schools we attended). I say we break out a copy of "Revenge of the Nerds" and then get creative. It could be fun. Use your imagination. Use photoshop. As our wingnut friends have shown us over and over again - an amusing story, especially if it can be shaped to fit the public mood, goes viral and becomes reality. It doesn't even matter if it's true?

and the desperate, narcissistic destruction it has worked and would continue to work on society given the opportunity (an opportunity which the WSJ is desperately trying to preserve and recreate), all I'm left to muse on is...

Where are "Jack" and Tyler Durden when we need them?

Seriously, though, all they need to do is look at how much time Todd spends at home (approximately 0%) and what Ms. Palin has done to every old white man who helped her along the way to her current political fame (plenty of figurative corpses lying along her path whose hearts she has ripped out and held up, still beating, for them to see before they perished).

They think they've got the perfect little younger version of Elizabeth Dole, here, but, with her lack of empathy and her total absorption with personal ambition, she will tear the party right out from under those old white men in favor of the End of the World/Rapture-based Christian wing. Meanwhile, those old white men won't sense their own demise coming until they're lying politically dead on the floor right along with their Grand Old Party.
