Normanx

Pretty clever.

But the "hide the sausage" thing with Rove makes me more than a little queasy.

Original article: Biden alone

I was against Gore throwing his hat into the ring

because I thought he was doing more good for the country with what he has been doing lately rather than stomping around the country begging for money. I also didn't want to hear the right wing pundits resurrect the inventing internet, love story, big mansion talking points again.

But as impressed as I am with the relative diversity of the democratic slate (especially compared to the old white guy republican panel), I am depressed that the front runners appear to be wandering aimlessly, without firmly taking a stand on anything without checking first which way the wind blows. Richardson and Kucinich may be exceptions but it is doubtful they will ever get the money and party support they need.

Al? Maybe second time is a charm.

Original article: Goodling's mea culpa

So what else is new?

I've lived my whole life so that I would never be in the situation where I had to answer the question: "Are you lying or just completely incompetent?"

These guys don't even care anymore.

Good thing this isn't feudal Japan or there would have been a run on the rice mat market because of the all the seppaku obligated by this rampant dishonor.

Original article: Goodling's McNulty-bashing

Unfortunately at work rather than watching CSPAN

But thanks for update. So early on she calls McNulty a liar but it doesn't sound like she has anything that could remotely be considered a defense of Gonzalez. I like that.

I also like the concept of the circular firing squad.

She went to a Christian Law school and all; maybe she will be more afraid of God for swearing on a bible and then lying than of that whole go to jail for perjury thing. We shall see, I guess

Anonymous (Joe by another name)

"Gee ...

... why no mention of Edwards' total hypocrisy:

Taking $55,000 of taxpayers' money to speak to California students about poverty!"

And McCain's trip to Iraq was free?

And Bush's flying all around the country giving the same tired speech is free?

And elimination of the estate tax isn't going to gut the treasury?

And the raise for Wolfowitz's girlfriend didn't cost us?

And the whole freaking Iraq war is being paid for with Iraqi oil revenues, right?

$55K is pocket change for your neocon heroes. It's what they wipe their asses with.

And anonymous joe, normally I ignore you, but your repeated posts looked like a cry for help.

He may not ever be president.

But he won't be forgotten. That's what it's all about for these guys anyways.

Original article: The no-confidence man

"...doing things that even Gonzales thinks would be wrong."

Now that's a concept that sends chills up my spine.

I like yours, too.

Timing is everything

It is sad indeed...

that Jesus is probably unelectable.

I think Optimus Prime shows the flexibility necessary for rapidly changing world events so he has my vote.

Dartvader,

If you wish to donate that corolla to my 18 year old son, I promise he'll take care of that "keeps on running" thing.

Bozon,

They have no shame and even less a sense of irony when they open their mouths.

Original article: Benchmarks and consequences

You know, if we were still English...

With the 11/06 vote of "no confidence", Howard Dean would have been president for the last six months.

Ahhhh, to have that alternate universe machine.

Looking the look

I agree there is an archtype mature white guy presidential "look". It's wrong, but it is.

As much as the some wingnuts love 24 for the flawed concept that torture gets results when you need it, I've wondered if one of the poison pills embedded in the show is the fact that they've had not one but two black presidents, both honorable men who served there country well. In fact the "old white guy" presidents and vice presidents have been some of the biggest weasels. Hopefully that's been tickling the subconcious of hardcore red staters.

Dealing with middle eastern and many asian countries will be difficult for a woman because of their cultural issues. I think her overall incompetence rather than her gender is what has led to Rice's failures in those areas, but the latter didn't help. Europe clearly has gotten over it and if Britain and Germany can field effective woman leaders (there's even a potential candidate in Russia!) then we should be able to. On the other hand, they are the ones most likely to have trouble dealing with an African American president because of THOSE longstanding prejudices.

What's the solution? Elect the brightest, most competent candidate whatever their religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, height, weight, hair, or shoe size may be and give them their shot to restore America's standing on the world stage. I can only think of a few of the republican candidates (I'm looking at you Brownback and Tancredo) who could possibly do worse than current presidential-looking guy in office.

I have nothing else to say about gonzales

that hasn't already been said.

But Wexler is my new hero for laying it out like that.

Richemery

I disagree. I think 2005 was a watershed year, at least for me. That was the year I decided that the administration was not just a bunch of arrogant, lying yabos but were actually criminally incompetent in their use and abuse of this nation's military and our democratic government. So I quit the Air Force. When people ask why I didn't stay an extra two years to max out my pension I tell them, "I couldn't stand my bosses."

Credibility?

I'm sorry but credibility is so pre-911.

Wednesday, May 2, 2007 02:05 PM

Rsdier

If you play the impeachment cards right, she can be.

Monday, April 30, 2007 01:11 PM

Oh, I don't know.

Sounds pretty treasonous me. My read from the administration is that anyone who isn't balls to the wall with the pre-emptive violent force thing is a commie, sissy, treasonous, terrorist-loving defeatocrat.

PS: To Ms Rice: Thanks for considering the possibility of being reasonable...you know, like a diplomat, but I'm afraid for you and the current gang after the last 6 years anything you do will be too little too late.
