Original article: Karl Rove's math

Since it's always ultimately about the money

If he gets thrown in jail when post 2008 election investigations turn up the dirt, I believe you cannot personally profit from book or movie deals relating to a crime you were convicted for.

On the other hand, if he whips out his "How I might have done it" book in the next year, it becomes the donation incentive freebie for every right wing organization in the nation, making him millions...before he gets thrown in jail.

He can't jsuccessfully plan a war or a reconstruction worth crap but planning ahead for the enrichment of himself and his closest friends has never been a problem for him.

He "listens to the generals", but what about the other troops on the ground

Obviously these soldiers are too busy trying to stay alive to have gotten the message that we are winning and glorious victory on the Malabar front is within reach (if only the traitorous democrats would stop saying its not).

It all seems to be clear to the president but when I try to connect the dots from 9/11 to Col. Garrett's world I just have to shake my head in wonder and disbelief.

Tiberius with the 4MB of mental RAM

15 years ago it was be state of the art. Now it's slow. And clumsy. And unable to refresh.

And certainly unable to process new information or run 2007 software.

Pity Tiberius, taking up space and slightly toxic, but no longer especially useful to anyone.

It's not so much that his sons aren't serving.

I'm career air force but have told my teenage sons the only uniformed services they are allowed to join are coast guard, public health service, or NOAA...at least until somebody besides a neocon is in the whitehouse at which point I'd be honored to swear them in.

But for Romney, or anyother chickenhawk candidate, to make a statement like this in response to that question shows he is completely bereft of shame or irony.

Original article: All about Hillary

I love to see them so delusional.

Iraq? pshaw! Health care? Fuggedaboutit! Security of ports and borders? Never you mind! It's all about Hillary! It's all about Clintons! It's all about BJ's in the Whitehouse again! That's all Americans care about.

At least Americans who watch Fox.

I hope, if she does end up the candidate, that she can just absorb all the anti-Clinton hatred that their national strategy will apparently be based on. Not that she shouldn't respond to the baser allegations (see "swift boat") but should mostly ignore the purely personal attacks while staying aggressive at highlighting the massive, continuous, and egregious failings of the republican party and this shameful administration in particular.

Original article: Missing in action

What stuns me

is the frothing outrage that Iran is "meddling" in the affairs of Iraq, their neighbor. This sort of misses the point that if US troops weren't there, they wouldn't be getting shot by weapons we supplied or blown up by old artillery shells we didn't secure (or in some cases sold to Iraq in the 70's and 80's). I know we've recently tuned up the VP's heart and the President's colon but I think the more desparate need to transplant a sense of irony into republican mouthpieces. A little shame transplant wouldn't hurt either.

Tell me Mr. Wingnut, What would be our response if Japan occupied Mexico and then told us to butt-out when we tried to influence how the conflict went? Oh, and I forgot, Tokyo then also demanded we shut down all our nuclear reactors "or else".

Well said!

I was trying to come up with an analogy an old bigot like tancredo might understand but couldn't think of one while pretending to work. (Don't blog at work, kids!) Yours is perfect...especially since tancredo is catholic I believe.

Do you really not see the difference between destroying an economic symbol (which still apparently has us crapping our pants and led us to enthusiastically support the wrong war) and attacking THE religious symbol of a significant part of the world. No, they aren't going to clench AK-47's in their teeth and swim over to kill our children. Extremists are likely, however, to kill any and all westerners in muslim majority countries they can find and permanently kick us out. Are you ready to do with out anything produced by Africa or the middle east? Are you ready to do without cooperation in war against terrorists throughout southern and central asia?

That tancredo would actually say these words out loud should void his application as a serious candidate.

that's ok, I guess

Jon Stewart and Olberman have enough material as it is.

Poco

The first thing you do when you move into a house that has been poorly kept up is fix the rotting wood, haul out the accumulated trash, and drive out the vermin in the attic. That's what the democrats have been doing for the last 6 months...and will probably need to be doing for the next year. Then they can paint the place.

PS: And just what did the republican congress do in the last 6 years? I mean besides passing the usual pork. I don't even see the anti-gay marriage amendment and repeal of Roe v. Wade that is their reason for being there anyways.

Elephantman

What are you talking about? If you don't have anything rational or relevant to say, don't.

Progressives are allowed to be amused when someone, way out of mainstream American politics, has people wanting to stamp "Gott mit Uns" on their belt buckles and hope that God will somehow be pleased to do what American voters will not.

This is not yet a theocracy and God, I hate to tell you, really doesn't care who wins.

I feel guilty now

that we made so much fun of "Baghdad Bob" during the gulf war. It turns out that some of his bombast was actually prescient and the guys with the white house logo behind their heads were (are) the delusional ones.

"Dignified Treatment of Wounded Warriors Act"

I'd love to see one veto or vote against something called that.

Anonymous: I served my country for 28 years but there are certain things I just could not throw myself upon...even for the good of the nation.

I'd volunteer for the job

But DC gives me a rash. My confirmation hearings would prove entertaining for one and all, though.
