"arguing proudly from ignorance "

Great Line and too true.

Might make a good contra-bumper sticker like "Republicans for Voldemort!"

"GOP 2008: Arguing proudly from ignorance!"

Is there a recall mechanism in Connecticut?

I mean seriously. I seen poles of "voter regret". We/they are stuck with another 5 years of this guy. Do they really want that.

Oh, Tiberius. I've been watching I, Claudius reruns via Netflix. Everytime I see your name I think of your namesake as portrayed in that fine mini-series. I'd change my name if I were you. A whiney mama's boy with a vicious depraved sex streak....

We need to make sure that when these jokers are up for reelection,

They are forced to explain their reasoning for voting against one of our most sacred American principles. Have them explain that their vote was to deny this right (as in "Bill of...") to scary men with beards and that it somehow doesn't apply to the rest of Americans, unless we are also scary men with beards or whatever the ruling party decides is the equivalent du jour.

And then they should be ridiculed for their ignorance and cowardice. Perhaps they should write the Bill of Rights on the blackboard a hundred times or so...or maybe with one of those Harry Potter pens so it is carved forever on their person.

Original article: Those were the days

Fine with me

As long as Mr. Bolton and his family are the first we airdrop outside Tehran.

Damn

It's the fine print that will get you everytime.

It could have been worse

What he really wanted to say was that Obama too "shiftless" to work there.

Original article: Lee Bollinger's big moment

Not a big fan of the Iranian president...

But not a fan of authority figures that act like dicks either. I'm not sure what Bollinger really expected his "guest" to do but it's clear he is clueless about middle eastern culture which requires hospitality towards your guests, even if you don't like them. Basically Bollinger confirmed, in the eyes of people whose cooperation that we are trying to obtain, that we are barbarians.

Thanks, dude.

It depends.

Is Edwards running for "President of Katrina"? Is he basing his legitimacy of presidential candidacy purely on how much time he spent filling sandbags at the levees? Did he back out of a comittment to a major task force designed to improve US infrastructure so he could make millions of dollars giving motivational talks about how "Everything changed after 8/29/2005"?

So, no, not really the same thing. And at least he's trying to do something.

Original article: No ruling in Craig case

Glennski

Easy enough to say. Keep in mind that it's the republicans who won't reelect Craig or cooperate with him because he might be gay. The reason the Democrats won't vote for him or help him out because he is a republican.

Friday, September 28, 2007 07:50 AM

The democrats have been pretty quiet.

which is the second best thing to do. Even better would be to take the high road on this one and support craig staying in his current position through the year. After all, hypocrite that he is, kids weren't involved, bribes were involved, and nobody got killed or tortured which puts him way ahead of administration SOP.

And hope he decides to run again.

I love the empty lecterns

They could have removed the extra ones and just shuffled folks around. But the "empty saddles" really drives home the point.

Agreeing with MAV

I've stopped posting on right wing blogs with any mention of my military career. I would only bring it up to contrast the "I was in the Army and hate the hippies and foriegners" sort of comments. The response at first would be something to the effect that there is no way could I have served in uniform and have the progressive opinions I espoused so I must be a 13 year old pretending to be a grown up. Second response would be something like maybe I was in the service but now clearly am a traitor and should be jailed. Next would be physical threats (which probably came from the real 13 year olds).

These keyboard warriors are useless. I was content giving the best years of my life to the volunteer force and really supported the concept that such service is not for everyone and should remain voluntary. In retrospect now, we should have reinstated a "no deferment" lottery based draft on September 12, 2001 and I'm sure would not be in the strategic pickle we are now.

Another phoney soldier I guess...

Glenn

I think they're going for that "Reagan, 2nd term" effect.

Tuesday, October 2, 2007 08:39 AM

I suspect the MoveOn ad will be major part of the 2008 campaign.

After all, when you have nothing, nothing is what you lead with. That's why everytime there is new republican scandal the shouts go up, "Bill Clinton! Barney Franks! Sandy Berger's pants!" even though some of these go back a decade or more. They really don't have anything new to point to that they've actually done right in the last 6 years so they will gather around the latest pinata and keep whacking it long after all the candy is gone.

Original article: "Blackwater is our team"

The comittee members don't have to worry about insurgent rules of engagement.

Those aren't the issues at hand. If the insurgent groups branded themselves "Al Queda USA" or "Madi Army USA" or even "Rogue Shia Death Squad USA" then it would be an issue because they would then somehow represent this nation...you know, like Blackwater USA.

Erc

It depends upon whose transcript you read.

Limbaugh has amended it to make him look like he was talking about a specific person. He wasn't. Limbaugh's modified transcript is the one making the rounds of the right wing blogs, not the...well...real one.

Original article: What would Jesus veto?

Well, then...

"I personally applaud the President for this. Taxing one group over everyone else is discriminatory.

--Anonymous"

How about we start taxing those who troll anonymously on political blogs? That and people who let their dogs poop on your front lawn and don't pick it up. Same thing actually.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 12:58 PM

anon.

Once again in your effort to insert your limbaugh talking points into a thread, you missed the point of the post.

We WERE justified in freaking out about nukes on our doorstep...just like Iran is justified in acting irritated than an army of 150,000 plus from a country that has publicly declared them a terrorist country is parked across their border.

And we settled it without invading either Cuba or the Soviet Union...or nuking anybody "back to the stone age". Imagine that!
