So what's your point? We do care, the guy has resigned which makes "one" for disgraced democratic key workers. McCain has twice or three times the disgraced key worker rate all by himself. Also the "republicans with boys" was tje elected official doing something unethical for sure and possibly illegal (by the way, how is that trial going?) The "democrat with prostitutes (sorry no, cunningham is a republican I believe) was NOT the candidate and, while tacky, is legal in Nevada.

So again, what is your point?

Go back to Fox. You will like what they have to say better than anywhere in Salon.

Not going to chill.

I am completely and thoroughly fed up with any variation of "Clinton did first" or "Democrats do it, too". I have a cynical disdain for politicians of all stripes. They all lie and they all pander and they all stand with their hand out.

But some do it more than others. Some do it worse than others. And some are more outrageous in their hypocrisy and lack of sense of irony or shame than others. And right now it is the republican party/congress/administration/SCOTUS that has earned my greatest scorn for the damage they have done to the country I love and the military I gave the best years of life to. Do not attempt to justify the outrages of the last 6 years with any variation of "johnny did it, too".

I'll chill when I get my country back.

And the administration response to this?

911! 911! Follow us here! 911!

Yes, sometimes helicopters crash

Sometimes they crash because they get shot down.

Sometimes they crash because they are flying in adverse weather and sandstorms because the mission requires it.

Sometimes they crash because of equipment failure due to overuse. By the way, a hidden cost of this war is the immense cost of repairing and replacing the engines of every fixed wing aircraft and helicopter that has spent any significant time in theater. Ditto for our armored vehicles. The hummer engines/transmissions are being consumed as well but we'll probably just bulldoze those into a large hole on our way out.

Relax.

Once or twice a day they poke tiberius with a stick and he either come out with a variation of "Clinton did it, too" or will say something that really doesn't make any sense although it will hint that liberals and progressives are somehow bad.

Most of us are used to it and ignore the troll.

I have to wonder...

Do you think they will include this news in the recent pro-war ads that Ari Fleischer (aka Baghdad Bob on the Potomac) and company have been working on? I mean if you are going to show a disabled vet or the family of a deceased soldier encouraging us to stay the course (stay the surge?), you really should include all the data about how their sacrifices came to be in the first place.

Are you sure you don't want to give that "quote of the day"

I know I'm only on my first cup of coffee but I doubt I will hear anything any more stupid today.

Monday, August 27, 2007 10:34 PM

It's really quite simple

"I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously."

If you are so stupid that you willingly plead guilty to a crime you didn't commit, you are too stupid to do the people's business in congress.

If you're just a lying hypocrite, you shouldn't be doing the people's business in congress either. And in your last moments on earth you will realize all the time you've wasted and people you've hurt and boy will that be a bummer.

Jim, jim, jim...

"don't want to convict him"

No one has to convict him because he already admitted his guilt. He convicted himself. Didn't you read that part of the story?

Better idea

Ignore these fools and give generously to the USO.

I haven't a drop of French blood

That I know of..

But I, too, have had it with French bashing as well. They lost millions in WW1 and thousands in WW2, losing because of bad strategy and deployment rather than courage. And they fought their Iraq in Algeria for years with all the brutality that our neocon chickenhawks beg to see in the middle east. Nothing wrong with the French soldier.

And you can't sell guns on ebay anyways. Not even gun parts as of last week.

ala clockwork orange

The president and Chertoff should be strapped to chairs and forced to listen to Linkin Park's "the little things give you away" until they really get it.

Friday, August 31, 2007 06:40 AM

Of course it's appropriate to bring up the Clintons

After all, Bill Clinton and Lewinsky were caught in a public airport restroom.

I was wondering how long it would take for what is now a standard "Clinton did it first" response to any questions about administrative or republican wrongdoing.

The approved republican response to a breaking republican scandal is :

A. "Bill Clinton!"

B. "Barney Franks!"

C. "Sandy Berger's pants!"

D. "911!"

E. All of the above.

Bluesman Mark

There actually are a fair number of reasonable (non-republican) folk in Texas, especially around where I live. Please, don't give the whole state away. Maybe just everything north of austin (which includes Crawford) plus whereever it is that Karl Rove is going to live.

Oh, and Bush international airport in Houston. They can have that, too.

"in a tiny, two-car motorcade"

Maybe that's the sum total of agents still willing to take a bullet for this man.

Tuesday, September 4, 2007 02:42 PM

"They wanted us to change others, and we didn't change them because the evidence didn't support them."

Good for them. Still, I wonder if this would have been the case a 6 months ago when key players (i.e. Rove) were still in place to brow beat, threaten, or bribe the oversight agencies into saying exactly what they wanted said.

Better watch it, robert lewis

The right really get their underwear in a bunch if anyone says anything ugly about St. Petreus the wise.

"Republican Pedigree"?

Omigod! We aren't planning on breeding them now, are we?

If you really want a republican around the house (they can be cute but do tend to poop on other people's furniture) just go down to the shelter and adopt one. Be sure to cut their nuts off, though.
