I find this memo laughable and hard to believe. The Democratic nominee has yet to be chosen yet Hillary Clinton is just supposed to go along with a fake nomination process. I suppose Obama supporters would like it if they general election in November was also fake and geared toward his supporters. The Democratic party is not supposed to be running a fake nomination process and I don't see how any ethical unbiased media organization would tolerate it. Where are your ethics?
I have been working on Hillary Clinton getting nominated though hardly a major player. I have seen what the Obama campaign has done to stop this from every happening. There was just too much dirt on them that was going to become public soon. Even now the process will be a joke. Many Clinton delegates have been told not to show up in Denver and their places were taken up by Obama people. Those who resisted, were threatened and asked to sign an Obama loyalty oath via barackobama.com. In fact delegate business was conducted not through the DNC site but through Barack Obama's. People who refused to sign the loyalty oath were threatened with having their delegate status removed altogether. Is this the democratic process that Salon touts as an alternative to the Bush Administration and the Republican party? Even your article is another way of trying to silence Senator Clinton and trying to get her supporters to "shut up." Barack Obama is not a good man and his politics are not democratic. Your support of him will allow the process of undermining democracy to rapidly speed up, not be restored. Shame on you!
The Democratic process is still being undermined in the Democratic Party. This is being put forth as a symbolic vote. It is not. The Democratic rules do not allow for "fake" voting. It is important that this vote be legitimate and real. Obama had let this happen because many Clinton Delegates have already been discouraged from going and have been replaced by Obama voters. If a Clinton delegate refused not to give up their position, they were asked to sign a loyalty oath at barackobama.com. If they refused the barackobama people would try to have them removed from the delegate list. It is unethical and undemocratic for "unbiased" media outlets to continue to promote the idea that Hillary must not "rain on Obama's parade" and only to pretend to fight for the Democratic nomination. It is owed to the Democratic process, the Democratic party and voters in general to reject this idea and have a true fight on the convention floor. What is happening is a continuation of erosion of the democratic process and democracy cheerleaded by the very media that is supposed to protect it.
I am horrified that either candidate would allow themselves to be interviewed by a pastor in a church about faith. This is the United States of America and the candidates are not supposed to push any religion above another religion. This unacceptable and portends dire consequences for our democracy.
Obama also stated that the hardest thing he's ever done was vote against the Iraq War. When? He wasn't in the senate to vote against the war in Congress. He also has voted positively for any vote that has come up about the Iraq War since being in the senate. I am hoping both these candidates are ruled ineligible for the presidency. Though Mc Cain may be the best we can get on Republican side. This election is a joke and the country is in distress.
You've chosen quite a bit of extreme information that you say has been circulating around the Internet. There is more information out there that is likely to be true. The fact is that many people are not going to vote for Barack Obama nor are they going to listen to the debunking. He is not a candidate that a major party should put up as presidential material. If Obama had a record in the Senate of legislation or doing much work during his lifetime, these "evil" email gossips wouldn't matter a bit. Why would anyone want to vote for someone with so empty a record who will only go on witch hunts if elected to find out who is putting bad information out about him. The evil rumor of Thomas Jefferson bedding his slave was probably true and debunking it didn't seem to matter in the long run. If rumors aren't true, they will go away. Tell Salon's and the media's candidate to "get a life."
The way the undemocratic party has been running lately I hope it is Hillary's big party. Clinton delegates have been discouraged from going to Denver, harassed about going to Denver and even asked to sign a loyalty oath to Obama if they persist on going. Even the nomination and roll call vote were a huge battle to get done. Basically I don't see why the Democratic Party can't go by its own rules and stop acting like this is a big party. The idea is to nominate a candidate for the United States. Hillary Clinton is to be shut up and her supporters are to shut up for what? There is no way the Democrats can win the White House this way and shouldn't. There aren't even any principles to defend after the undemocratic things that have gone on in this election. I may watch Hillary and Bill at the convention and I probably will watch Joe Lieberman at the Republican convention but that will be my only foray into the convention world. I will then vote for Nader or Mc Cain as my conscience allows.
