I Quit!

I'm tired of having Obama forced on me by people who have tell me that I have no choice to vote for him because everyone else is worse. I'm tired of people telling me that he deserves it because "he's so popular". I'm tired of people telling me I have no right not to go along and if I don't I am not a good sport. I'm tired of people telling me that his policies are the same as Hillary's so "what's the difference?" I'm tired of people telling me to "get over it" or "game over!" I'm tired of people bashing the Clintons over stuff that's been hashed over for years and ignore the fact that most of it was untrue and cleared in court but ignore the fact that the Clinton years were pretty well run and good for the country. I am shocked by the fact that many people are referring to this country as Obamaland. I am shocked at the kind of company he kept in Chicago and that he moved the Democratic party operations there. I am shocked at the crowds of people who swamp over him and ignore his lack of experience. I am shocked at how many people look no farther than Obama's books and website to get information on him. They also excuse his flip flopping and scream bloody murder at any change John Mc Cain has done. I don't see my having a place in the Democratic Party anymore and don't believe they really want me any way. The Clintons are being used in shameful ways and it is sad that debt put them in this position but I believe Hillary had to run as far as she could and would have suggested she go to the convention. I am disgusted at the way the Internet was used to rig this election and leave vast swaths of voters with no say and an inability to participate on equal footing. I am not a Democrat anymore and if this is the way elections are going to run by the people, I suggest that lobbyists might not have been a bad idea. While many spout that Obama is a centrist, they state in the next sentence that this is a "revolution" and sometimes that "he is walking in the path of god". You can't have it both ways and I find that the final statements are what people really feel and believe. Hugo Chavez would be proud.

Can He Stay There?

I think we all are aware now that Obama has a distain about people talking about him except in the most fawning terms. Talk trash about Obama and one of his supporters will be by to reeducate you. We will constantly get lecture speeches between the rallies to show how much people love him. No dissenters allowed. If Europe is as infatuated with Obama as you say he is, then I suggest he stay. The legal system is more to his liking on controls on free speech so he can sue for libel as many times as he likes. I think Europe can have him until they tire of him then he can move to another continent. I hear that Antarctica has been looking for a good lecturer for many years now.

Atheism is Almost a Religion in Itself

I have been listening to Point of Inquiry for a few months now. It is a podcast run by SUNY Buffalo for Science, etc. and has a magazine too. I haven't read the magazine. I am not religious but don't necessarily consider myself an atheist. I am struck at how much the atheists sound like they are in a religion themselves. The announcer D.J. Grothe is a former Fundamentalist Christian and seems to have turned his fervor to atheism. I have kept listening because many of speakers are great and they don't share D.J. Grothe's opinions most of the time. They may have atheistic feelings but vary in their beliefs. The debate between the ability of science and religion to coexist is an interesting one and I don't think science or religion are on their way out anytime soon. During most of the 20th century, most people could accept science and religion with much quarrel. Science made life much better and there were clear signs it had done so, if anything people gave it too much deference and some bad things happened for example, lobotomies, syphilis studies on African-Americans etc. The move of religion to smaller groups of evangelists has transfered religious power to small groups of people with less education and who are more likely to believe in a literal translation of the bible. I think there is a turning toward science right now but it is because atheists are becoming more evangelical in their beliefs.
