Know thyself
[Read the article: Angry, hateful liberal bloggers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Perhaps Podhoretz had himself a visit with the Oracle before writing his treatise? Speaking of, I don't do drugs and haven't for years, but back in college I experimented with cannabis now and again, even inhaling once or twice- mostly when I wasn't out getting smashed, which was rare. There were two thoughts I can remember coming to me while being under the influence of the illicit drug that have stuck with me in sobriety- the first was that hate was not so much close to love as admiration. That seems decidedly apropos even as it dovetails with Podhoretz's own trip. The second, less so, was the extent of the prejudice I harbored unbeknownst to me, at which point the scales dropped from my bloodshot eyes. I think we went to Taco Bell and got some nachos after that.
It bears noting, or at least echoing GG's underlying point, that this dynamic explains the need for an enemy. At the end of the cold war the right lost the basis for its multi-hundred billion dollar military industrial complex, the alliances in which the US sat at the head of the table, the justification for espionage, for strategic trade, small wars, propping up dictators, etc. They needed a new villain, a new raison de'etre, a new excuse for doing the things they so badly wanted to do and often profited from, and of course to be seen as- and probably more importantly, feel to be- courageous champions of the righteous all the while. So we end up with Axes where there is no orientation between the underlying entities and morbid salacious fascination with the latest beheading video. The problem of course is that those with the intelligence to know, like Podhoretz, are borderline certifiable, while the legions of their adherents are just plain ignorant. Weren't we talking about Nazism the other day? I'm not saying... I'm just saying.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The rumors of your demise have been greatly exaggerated. Rest assured, most people here find your existence offensive. Trying to irritate them by posting here is just being redundant.

Ward Churchill
[Read the article: Angry, hateful liberal bloggers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is indeed a contemptible ideologue that lacks reasoning skills- for example, he's quoted as saying that the WTC was a legitimate target. Defending him is wrong on number of levels not the least of which as far as the collateral damage such nonsense does to the issues that actually matter. If you keep pouncing on the right's red herrings, you will have plenty more to pounce on as your credibility is eroded in the eyes of the vast majority of the citizenry. IMO.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oh honey honey. Didn't you know? The past is not over- it's not even past. I don't even think Faulkner was being as trite as to limit this to a single individual's adult life.
Oh, I would like to take you through the basics. Glenn, can we keep him? Please?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Immortalized forever for being brutally murdered in an ever so titillating and downloadable fashion. Tell me Tiberius, have you seen that video- the whole unedited one? What about Pearle or Sad Hussein?

The truth about 9/11
[Read the article: Angry, hateful liberal bloggers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I can't figure out whether the 9/11 conspiracy theorists are a front for a cult or the communist party, but something funny is definitely going on there. I was in Ohio the other week for the first time- not a bad place- and while walking through Columbus I was hustled by some people passing out fliers having something to do with 9/11. The fliers prominently featured something about charity for firefighters which was the bait for your heartstrings. If you took the flier, you also got not just a beautiful pendant key chain but a DVD 'about 9/11'. When pressed, these wild eyed flier givers admitted that the DVD 'asked some important questions about the official version of 9/11 events'. There is a word for such people: despicable.
That said, there's always the chance that the 'Canadian' is about as Canadian as Mobile, Alabama and this is his/her attempt at being sly. The propaganda link hoping for a bite much like the firefighter ruse augers more for the former species.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Indeed, you have your finger on reality's pulse. How could Glenn Greenwald doubt the plausibility that he will, before he is beheaded by one the Islamofascists of your received imagination, try to persuade the swarthy terrorist that he has written much for their cause and so his life should be spared? I mean, the fact that it is more likely for him to spontaneously combust after he wins the lottery and is struck by lightening, does not mean that this is a fanciful scenario. This is to say nothing of the likelihood that Western women will be forced to wear burkas if we don't keep our troops in the Middle East.
Your moniker is a real shame. The namesake may have been a number of things, but he was not morbidly obtuse.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Indeed, that sounded a bit like a gratuitous slander. I've had a few people in my home town go religious cult and attempt to save my soul in just the past few years, so we've got no bragging rights on you. Excepting of course the weather...
